Day 31: Intercom, Dawn

Mar 23, 2008 23:32

"Good morning, patients and staff!" The Head Doctor's voice was perhaps even more jubilant than usual, and he hummed a little ditty as he shuffled through his papers. "I'm sorry to have disappeared yesterday - I had to deal with a few small problems - but I'm pleased to announce that we had minimal difficulties with our patients after that terrible... event. I trust that today's breakfast will go far smoother than yesterday's, and the staff in the cafeteria will be doubled from here on out to ensure a safe environment for everyone.

"In any case, I move on to bigger and better news! While all you patients eat breakfast, our staff will be finalizing a new, improved schedule for everyone. That's right! The shifts on the current timetable just don't work with the changes we've made to handle the size of our current population, so we've been working to rehaul everything just for you. From now on, we will have a planned type of food for each meal for each day, and we will make sure to keep you all stimulated during the activity shifts.

"As far as breakfast on this particular Tuesday, we'll be serving pigs in blankets - succelent sausage wrapped in delicious buttermilk pancakes - as well as bagels and cream cheese. You may of course ask for pancakes or sausage on their own if you object to one or the other, and we are also serving our usual sides of bacon, scrambled eggs, and hash browns. We of course have our usual selection of water, milk, and juices, and we also have a fruit salad available for vegetarian patients.

"That's all for now. I hope you're all looking forward to the changes in schedule as much as I am. They will be announced at the beginning of the next shift. Thank you!"

The intercom clicked off.
