Nightshift 30: M1-10 Hallway

Feb 26, 2008 12:36

[from hereRenji slowed a little as he headed up the hallway, sweeping the ceiling with his flashlight. So far, no giant spiders. He liked that. It wasn't that he had anything against spiders; he wasn't some pansy that was afraid of a little bug. Or a big one. He just hadn't liked the feeling of getting bitten and poisoned ( Read more... )

[knock knock knock-ing on Daemon's doo~oor] stray_shinigami February 26 2008, 19:41:20 UTC
Just for courtesy's sake, he knocked. Last time he'd barged into a room, some soldier had tried to twist his head off. Which didn't bother him all that much, but Daemon seemed like the sort that might want to say hello before the punches started flying.

Daemon looked up at the knock, gliding across the room to open the door and catch sight of the redhead from the illumination of his torch. "Well, at the very least, you're prompt," he greeted with a wry quirk of his lips.

Renji gave Daemon a somewhat strained grin. "Normally am," he said. "Less likely to get caught if you're running."

He took the open door as an invitation and came inside, keeping an eye on Daemon. Once he was in the room, he pulled the sword from his improvised belt and laid it on one of the desks.

"I take it you're ready, then?" Daemon inquired, stepping back from the doorway and standing casually beside his bed, watching the Shinigami with a patient expression. He looked totally at ease and not at all like someone about to break into a fistfight several days in the building.

"No interruptions tonight?"

Confirmation, now. Unless Doyle was going to pull off something like what Marcus infuriatingly managed every once in a great while, he wasn't coming back. That meant he'd just have to rig up a suitable detonator himself, which would be irritatingly complicated.

He took a while before setting out to finish sharpening the promised broadsword he had made, wrapping it up for transport and grabbing two knives and a sword for himself. Once set, he slipped out into the hallway, his eyes taking on a faint, blood red glow as they adapted to the wonderful darkness.

Thank god, the drugs were almost all out of Alec's system. He sat on his bed for a few moments after the nurse escorted him back in, and listened to the Head Doctor's intercom announcement. That did nothing to keep him from picking up the radio and adding it to his secret pillowcase once more. If it was useful for nothing else, perhaps it could function as a bludgeoning tool. His bloodlust was beginning to rise up again. He hoped he fought another scorpion. He hoped he fought a whole damn flock of scorpions, or whatever the hell you called a group of scorpions anyway.

As he was rifling through his drawers again, he noticed something strange. The Institute hadn't provided him with any black clothes, had it? Confused and still possibly drugged out, he drew the new garments from the drawer.

And grinned.

His old combat suit was in his hands, perfect and pristine and new. That was funny, because the last time he'd seen it, he'd been wearing it, and it was in no better condition than he'd been. He quickly shed his nondescript grey attire ( ... )

Zuko missed dinner, but at least he was able to get all the information he needed out of Homura. And thankfully the orderlies finally left him alone for the night. Before setting out the prince ruthlessly scoured his room for anything useful, but all he found was the light stick Sanosuke had used the night before. Pocketing that he cautiously opened his door and took off down the hallway.

M55 was his destination. Zuko remembered the way, but he would want to obtain a map at some point in the near future...

The dinner conversation had definitely helped Sora's mood (not that it usually needed that much help in the first place), since it seemed like Kairi was doing a lot better. She had also refrained from signing up for Arts and Crafts assignments this nightshift, which meant that she would be taking it easy. Though he still hadn't gotten the chance to talk to Renji about Nowe, and he knew that when they did at breakfast tomorrow he might come out of the conversation feeling a lot worse ( ... )
