Nightshift 29: Sun Room

Shrouded by darkness, the large construct stood perfectly still in the far off corner where he had been placed just as night began. The bio weapon's objective for the night was simple: Guard all doors from any targets that attempted to gain entrance. Returning the targets to their designated areas was imperative.

At the rising and falling tones of speech, the construct opened its blank, empty eyes and scanned the area, easily spotting two targets entering from the far off door.

HK didn't even have to scan the room to notice the fairly gigantic heat signature near the far wall. "Affirmative: Yes. One very big meatbag on the opposite end of the room that thinks it's going to ambush something." Silly meatbag. You can't hide from an HK unit.

Well, at least they knew about it in advance this time, SubZero started moving, weaving around the furniture in the room to avoid giving the creature a clear charging path.

They would have to face it, but right now they had no idea what it could do.

Without any further delay, the construct took a step from where it had been placed, the ground shuddering in its wake as it approached. The furniture in the room did little to pose as obstacles, but the construct had no logical reasoning to destroy it just yet.

Mason entered the Sun Room slowly, and took a moment to notice the fight that appeared to be going on. Maybe if he and Zel could stay real quiet and skirt around the edges, they could avoid getting pummeled.

"Stay quiet and head for the cafeteria door," the reaper whispered to his companion, pointing emphatically at the door on the opposite side of the room.

Zelgadis nodded and began to make his way towards the door, but found himself stuck on something.

Mason had stepped on his cloak. He hit the floor hard, face first.

"Arghurghle." Came from his throat as he fell downwards.

"Shhhh!" Mason warned, glancing at the fighters. He knelt by Zelgadis and tried to pull the younger man to his feet, looping one of the teenager's arms over his shoulders and beginning to make his way across the sun room.

"Come on!" Mason urged in a frightened whisper.

"I thought you said you could fight!" Zelgadis half-whispered to Mason as they hopped like a two-headed creature toward the kitchen.

Once they entered the sun room, Obi-Wan fully expected to be ambushed. He'd never personally encountered the things the institute put in here, but he had seen them once. He knew what they were capable of, and he couldn't help but recall Renji's experiences with that man with the pyramid-shaped head. Hopefully they wouldn't run into anything like that.

Once he caught sight of the battle going on between some prisoners and some kind of...well, it was difficult to tell exactly what it was without shining his light over there and drawing attention to themselves. But whatever it was, Obi-Wan doubted it was good.

He only wished he had the means to help them. But sadly, jumping in now would not end well for anyone. Perhaps if they came back later...

"The library's this way," he hissed, perhaps more for his own benefit than anyone else's.

Qui-Gon felt more than saw whatever was in the Sun Room. It was dark, but what hit him was the sensation in the Force of the enormous creature battling it out with some of the other patients. Its presence was deafening not in silence, not like Martin Landel, but in violence, in black and red and a feeling of single-minded tenacity.

Through it all, he thought he heard strains of some kind of music drifting in over the chaos from one of the doors...

"Alright, let's go," Qui-Gon whispered back. He didn't like leaving these patients to their fate...but if there was indeed something to help them in the library, then they could probably prove more useful once they were back outside.

[ From Here]The moment he entered into the room the sword felt a shock run through his system. While his vision was obscured by the back of the wheel chair, there was no doubt within his mind that there was some foul undead beast within this room. Amber eyes narrowing, the Night Rune peered around the corner of the wheeled chair and spotted what appeared to be two patients attacking a third man. He carefully regarded all three, searching each one carefully until his gaze landed on the one with what appeared to be some form of weapon protruding out from their eye. There was no doubt within his mind that rotting bag of flesh was the foul undead creature ( ... )

To say Jack was happy to see a fight in progress would have been wrong. In all honesty, it didn't bring him any joy to discover that there was a hostile individual lurking beyond the Sunroom doors. However, that said, the fight seemed to be well under control and contained. That meant a clear shot to the library, unhindered!

"Come on!" He called to the others, "Let's go while tall, dark, and ugly is busy!"

There was really no excuse for yelling. They were all right there.

Of course, considering how well things had gone the last time he'd led people into battle, he was more than happy to let Jack be in charge of things for now. Particularly since Jack was a bit taller and would make a much better target.

Ducking as well as he could, trying to pretend that he didn't cut a ridiculous figure semi-waddling across the room, Mark made his way to the library, trusting that the others would stay close for their own sakes. He tried not to think too much about the human in body armor, or whatever it was, that was fighting two patients.
