Greed might have been either appalled or smug to know he'd woken up in a girl's cell block, but unfortunately for him, there weren't any girls to see. Instead, as he kicked the weakened door open and marched into the hall, he found that he was the only one in it ( Read more... )

He clicked it off, and moved in the direction of the large gathering near the center of the hallway. The others were providing plenty of light -- he didn't need his. Why waste the batteries? He hadn't found any others yet, and surely they wouldn't last forever.

He didn't stride right toward them; no sense in making himself a target in case they weren't friendly. Still, he probably already had the attention of a couple of them, being as how his light had been like a beacon from the dark of his doorway. And the door wasn't exactly silent.

Toward, but not up to. An observer only, at this point. Nothing more. He'd gather what information he could. He mentally cursed himself for not exploring the first room better. He should have taken the paper, the notebook he'd seen on the desk in the room, but his memory would hold well enough. He wasn't a slow learner, and his memory was excellent.

...mental institute...

He pondered the words as he walked through the almost-darkness.
Is that where he was?
A human mental institution on Assiah?
How was that even possible?

Didn't this place have any lights at all?
