Nightshift 26: Dr. Wilson's Office

[From hereHitsugaya led the way into the next office. The room would probably have been considered friendly, if not for the darkness and his fear of what he might discover. Whatever had happened to Renji...whatever he had been tricked into doing...no ( Read more... )

"Will do!" Artemis said, moving immediately behind the desk. He shuffled through the pages, scanning the names.

"Excluding Samantha Paige, Sarah Conner, and Cassie Jennings... there are several males here. Mike Rotch, Joshua Sampson, Ezra Klein--that's Obi-Wan Kenobi--Gregory Meadows, Franz Haushofer, Jack Patterson, Andrew Hill, David Shaw, and Phil Irving."

Artemis sighed wearily and ran his fingers through his hair. None of these names sounded familiar. "Phil Irving thinks his name is Maes Hughes and he's... in love with his wife and his best friend. Oh my, what a conflict. David Shaw goes by Dias and has several scars on his body. Not tattoos, unfortunately. Andrew Hill has a twin brother in the institution--I'm assuming Abarai-san doesn't, since I've never seen another Abarai-san wandering around. Franz Haushofer goes by Adelheid Bernstein. Oh, we rescued him last night! Gregory Meadows... was hurt by a doctor!" He sighed, "Nearly a week ago. Dead end there. Joshua Sampson goes by Scar. Friendly little nickname ( ... )

Hitsugaya compared the names to those in the file. More case files, background notes, nothing useful. A couple of the names Artemis read off sounded familiar. Daimon. Adelheid. Still, nothing that sounded like Renji.

"Pills...no, Abarai-fukutaicho wouldn't have any need for pills," he answered. "Sounds like another dead end." Still, the information would be useful for the other patients on occassion. Maes Hughes was a familiar name as well, but the romantic interest didn't seem like anything valuable. "Nothing in the filing cabinet for anyone else, it seems. Just some background notes, false photographs. Nothing useful."

Artemis sighed. Another dead end. "You know, I honestly wish that I hadn't driven off my first psychologist. I feel utterly excluded from this little party."

The boy crossed around the desk, looking curiously at all the little knick-knacks. Interesting. Curious, he opened the fridge.

Bah, only bottles of water. Well, he felt that he needed to take something for his trouble. He picked one out... only to realize he couldn't open it without two hands. Sighing he set the bottle back down on the desk. "This is depressing."

Hitsugaya raised an eyebrow as he thumbed through the last bits of the filing cabinet. "You drove off your first psychologist?" he asked incredulously. "That strikes me as..."

He paused as his hands came across a file towards the back. The first slip wasn't anything terribly noteworthy, aside from a different name: Authorization for Transfer - Kyle Brothers: Transferred to Dr. Muraki The page behind it, though, was a very general overview of the therapy sessions. There was a lot of medical jargon that he didn't quite understand to move through, and even more bureaucratic red tape that he vaguely did recognize. Paperwork was his life, so sorting through it to find anything of value was easy. And there it was, a description of the patient: 24 years old, 6'2", red hair, brown eyes, body covered in intricate tattoos of a tribal origin."Looks like I found him," Hitsugaya said. "Kyle Brothers. He was transferred to Dr. Muraki." Most of it was unrecognizable jargon, but he took it anyways. One never knew when it might come in ( ... )

((from here))

He flicked the flashlight beam around the room, checking for anything suspicious or possibly dangerous. It had looked safe enough from outside, and Artemis and Hitsugaya obviously hadn't had any problems, but it was best not to take chances.

A couch. Perfect. "Lay Ken down on the couch. One of us might as well be comfortable."

Yohji entered the room, helping Aya with Ken. He glared down at his unconcious teammate. "Damn, why'd you have to train so much. You're like a rock." He nodded to Omi and moved him over to the couch, setting him down gently and then perching on the edge of it. "So, what now?" He needed something to take his mind off things after all.

Ken on the couch, Aya moved to close the door behind them, locking it to be sure. He stayed on his feet, knowing unnecessary bending down would aggravate the wound more. And carrying Ken had been quite enough.

He leaned against the wall beside the door and let Omi lead the talking. He would have liked to throw in a question or few of his own but would wait for another moment.

'What now' was a very good question. "Kill time until dawn, unless one of you has a better suggestion."

He tucked the bugnuks under one arm. It was a bit of an awkward position, but at least it freed up his hand, and he didn't want to risk leaving them sit somewhere with the way the night had a tendency to end suddenly and without warning. Managing to lose the weapons after that business in the hall... well, he just wasn't going to lose them. Besides, he didn't need full range of motion to poke through the papers and files lying around to try to figure out what Artemis and Hitsugaya had been looking for.
