He flicked the flashlight beam around the room, checking for anything suspicious or possibly dangerous. It had looked safe enough from outside, and Artemis and Hitsugaya obviously hadn't had any problems, but it was best not to take chances.
A couch. Perfect. "Lay Ken down on the couch. One of us might as well be comfortable."

He leaned against the wall beside the door and let Omi lead the talking. He would have liked to throw in a question or few of his own but would wait for another moment.

He tucked the bugnuks under one arm. It was a bit of an awkward position, but at least it freed up his hand, and he didn't want to risk leaving them sit somewhere with the way the night had a tendency to end suddenly and without warning. Managing to lose the weapons after that business in the hall... well, he just wasn't going to lose them. Besides, he didn't need full range of motion to poke through the papers and files lying around to try to figure out what Artemis and Hitsugaya had been looking for.

He started rummaging through the objects on the desk just on the off-chance that anything useful could be found. Nothing, most of it was useless for their purposes. He eyed the mini-fridge contemplatatively as well as the filing cabinet. "Want to look through the files? I might check my doctor's office to see if there's anything." He was curious to see what his file said, how much they knew.

Sighing, Aya folded his arms over his chest and let his shoulder relax against the wall, so wired up it was practically possible to see the tension riding heavy on him.

He bit his lip, stopping himself from saying anything else. That would be the easiest way out for all of them, wouldn't it? Come tomorrow, they could just deny anything had happened at all and avoid all the awkward questions.

"No," he said simply into the conversation. He'd go with Omi's decisions eighty percent of the time, but reserved some leeway when he thought there was no reason behind them. Ken wouldn't most probably be in any condition to attack Omi if he'd wake up, it was a miracle if he'd stand up after that clonk to the head, but Omi would be alone as well. And at least Yohji knew what he was dealing with, obviously a bit too much for Aya's liking.

I'd suggest not butting in where it's not needed.
They'd been acting so much like a team before, like he was used to, almost. Going back to this hurt, but he didn't know how to stop it. "Sorry. If you're going, go."

His expression darkened into a mixture of hurt and anger at Omi's words and he grabbed his knife heading for the door. "Fine."

After the door closed behind Yohji, he let silence stretch between himself and Omi for a moment. Yohji was a dramaqueen at his worst, Aya could be indifferent when he wanted to, but Omi - not Mamoru, Omi - rarely was neither stupid nor uncaring towards his teammates.
And that, if something ever could, bothered Aya. Damn him if he would be even part a reason why the boy would have to go there.
"Omi," he finally said gingerly. "I think we have to talk."

It took him a minute and a couple of shaky breaths till he was sure he'd be able to keep his voice steady. Long enough, too, for him to pretend he hadn't heard Aya's statement. "Do you think we should wake Ken up? If he does have a concussion, I don't like the idea of just letting him sleep like this."

"I think he can deal a while longer," he said almost softly, feeling the guilt so thick he could have worn it as a cloak around him. He wished he would have known how to be casual like Yohji or Ken, just ruffle Omi's hair and be done with it. But he didn't.
"Omi," he begun hesitantly, then frowned a bit and continued persistently, "I'm sorry." No explanations, it was hard enough to breath out the words to begin with.

But Aya had chosen this. It was comfort and reminder all in one, reminder of just how different they were from what he'd come to expect over the years. He offered up a small smile, eyes flicking back to watch Ken. "No, I'm sorry, Aya-kun. You were right. I should have left well-enough alone, but I just thought..."
Thought what? Something. He wasn't quite sure what he'd been thinking. He sighed and pulled away, going to check on Ken. "How's your side? Has the bleeding stopped yet?"
