None of it interested him, even as the riddles came easily enough. None of it was useful to him. So far nothing the monkey on the radio had offered had caught his

Max slipped into the first stairwell she came to, her flashlight still tucked into her waistband, using only her enhanced vision to manuever the pitch black halls.
So she was quite surprised to slip into the blackened stairwell and instantly find that she wasn't alone there, that someone else was lurking in the shadows. Recalling the night before, how the sunroom had gone blacker and the ghost shooting blue fire had been there waiting, Max immediatly crouched into an alert defensive position, readying herself to attack.

The one who had realized she wasn't alone had approached nice and quietly; Aidou cocked his head at her, briefly appraising. Edging into the 'too old for me' category, but still overly attractive for a human.
"Don't worry," he said, turning his back and beginning to make his way up. "If I were waiting to ambush someone, it would be at the top of the stairs, not the bottom."

"The question is, would you be waiting in ambush for someone at all?"
She moved silently, as she alays did, without the use of light as she kept to the shadows and ascended the stairs.

Man, what was with this night though? The air felt weird as hell, like it was heavy. Almost depressing, but it was a good thing they ate as well as they did earlier. It was hard to break the good mood, so Kasady hurried along.
Stairs? Check.

Of course, his Other had memories of killing stronger opponents. But it had been a long time indeed since they had to slaughter another one of their species, much less a young, fresh one.
Testing the air, Brock imagined that he could see the thread of Other - symbiote, enemy - heading toward the stairs. There was really no word for how the symbiote could "see", except that it was like Parker's spider-sense on steroids, speed, and crack, all at the same time, and there was a good reason they usually relied on ( ... )

Allen collapsed to one knee as soon as they were clear of the group near the Sun Room. This at least, was empty and he could try to figure out what to do from here. He didn't want to put Miss Emily in danger, but given the option of something close to a level 3 Akuma and Rhode, he wasn't sure which was worse.
He could taste blood in his mouth, an unfortunate side effect of carrying the little monster halfway down the hall. Was Emily still following? He tried to turn his head, but Rhode wasn't making things easy.

But Allen was trying to look back at her. That blond woman from Lunch that Allen had been talking so nicely with. Her own head whipped back, looking to the woman in question as she came up along with them. As if instinctively, Rhode tightened her grip on her plaything even further. "I already told you, go get your own plaything!" she hissed. Allen was hers, darn it! She continued glaring, fiercely cuddling Allen like one of her stuffed animals when she picked up on something. Actually, it was she wasn't picking up on that struck her as odd ( ... )

“Would you please stop calling Allen a plaything? That’s very rude.”
Hah, this was pretty funny. Arguing with her on who had any real “claim” to the white-haired boy. If it wasn’t for wanting to maintain her act, the Nobody would’ve definitely taught her a lesson. This desire grew even more after Rhode had commented on her lack of a heart.
“E-Excuse me? What do you mean?”
How could she possibly know that? Things were really starting to get interesting now.

He was grateful that Emily was standing up for him, but at the same time, if she kept that up, it would be her that Rhode chose to go after next. Rhode's comment about Emily hardly phased him. Didn't have a heart? She was just being rude. "Don't be... silly, of course she has... Everyone has."

Finally reaching the stairs, Bella stopped for a moment to catch her breath, looking around. To her surprise, there were people close by. What appeared to be a girl crouched down to the ground was being spoken to by a boy that made her freeze in her breathing for a moment. Running a hand through her long mahogany hair to try and calm her nerves a soft shuddered sigh escaped her just the Edward voice once again kicked up, telling her to go back to her room.
Has her sub conscience always been this annoying? "Shut up" Bella muttered once again, and continued on her way up the stairs.
She passed by a boy who didn't look like he was doing too well ... yet she decided not to push it and ask him if he was okay. After all, she knew better than to talk to strangers.

Ichigo decided to take the stairs up to the 2nd floor. It was unlikely that Rukia or Renji would be making the trek upstairs, and he didn't want to see either of them just yet. He might go looking for Rukia later, but right now he was interested in what exactly was upstairs that they had needed to check out.
Who knew, he might find something to use a weapon. This flashlight was useless. The radio had spouted out some gibberish, but all of it was cryptic bullshit and Ichigo was never one to sit around and try to figure out riddles.
With that in mind, he started up the stairs.
