He knew something was terribly wrong from the moment he woke up. For example, the fact that he woke up. It should have taken a great deal of damage to render him outright insensate, and the last thing he recalled was giving a report to Greater Beast on the result of that odd little encounter with Darkstar... not generally the sort of thing that should have brought him to the edge of destruction. That mystery was quickly replaced by a far more urgent one--the way he found himself breathing faster in confusion, and the sensation of sweat trying to escape pores. Oh, he could imitate breathing if he needed, but this was different. This was.... something being pulled inside of him by automatic muscle movements, and the him in question was the center of his consciousness. Sitting up abruptly in what was as close to a panic as he could reach, he realized that the Astral Plane itself seemed distant, an echo from far away. As though he were an invader knocking on the door there, not a native who was merely visiting the physical realm.

The answer of what had happened was obvious, all of these facts taken into account, and just a tiny bit flattering. After all, it wasn't every day that a mere Priest was treated as a threat on the same level as Chaos Dragon or even Lord Rubyeye. Looking down at his new prison, even in the very faint light of the room he couldn't help making out the smiling yellow face on his shirt. Now that was very odd! The smiling was rather like him, but the effect was a bit tacky. It seemed like a sick joke--his kind of joke, but he was used to being the jokester and not the target.

The answer of 'what,' that he was sealed into a human body, had been answered. 'Why' went without questioning... even if it was a little odd a choice instead of outright destruction, getting him out of the way would be quite a coup for the side of the gods or any number of his enemies and some of his allies. 'Who' and 'how' were the new puzzles, and joined together. Perhaps the memory loss was some part of the spell... though the fragments of Lord Rubyeye had lost all memory entirely and had to be reawakened, leaving his rather clear memories of his own past somewhat enigmatic. The who, though... it should take a power on the level of the dragon gods themselves to seal him, and the smiley face and complete lack of restraints made it seem unlikely that his worst enemies had done it. In the human world, he was only aware of two sorceresses who might have the power to serve as a focus for this sort of curse, and at least one of them he knew didn't have the knowledge. Or hadn't had it, anyway... Not knowing the length of time between his leaving his Lady and waking up here made it hard to guess what might have happened between.

Sitting wouldn't answer his questions, and so long as there were no guards on him, he'd take the bite and wander out into whatever maze he'd been placed in. Walking solidly on his new human feet, he headed to the door and, finding it unlocked, exited into the hallway.
