If he ever made it home, he was never bitching at any of the girls who didn't want to do night ops alone again. It was different when you knew there were things out there in the darkness.

"Alright. The things I'm looking for might seem pretty simple, but the fact is I just don't know where they would all be. There are three items, to be exact: starch powder, matches, and one porcelain plate. I'd guess the plate would be somewhere in the upstairs kitchen, but as for the other things..." He rubbed his chin in thought and glanced at the other man with a raised eyebrow.
Gumshoe stared blankly when the stranger trailed off, wondering what he wanted to tell him, and smiled once he'd given his name, a disbelieving look appearing on the detective's face. S-Sir? Had he heard that right? The last time someone had called him 'sir', he never would have imagined a place like this existed. Made him realize how much he missed having those young and clueless recruits around for company. "I'm Detective Dick Gumshoe!" he replied enthusiastically, sticking his hand out to him.
"Um... D-Did you want to take the lead, pal?" Don't get him wrong, Gumshoe wasn't about to force the kid into doing something he wasn't comfortable with. Taking charge was what detectives did for a living! But if Kibitoshin wanted to step up to the plate and prove himself, Gumshoe wasn't going to steal his only chance!
...What? These were basic mentoring skills. I-It didn't have anything to do with him being scared!
