Night 59: M61-M70 Hallway

A project of great importance. Well. That didn't sound good. Kirk tugged his Starfleet-issue boots on, hopping a little in place as he stood, and smiled to himself, irrationally pleased at how well they fit. It wasn't as if the military uniforms were all that bad either, pants creased and shirts smooth as if tailored to them in their sleep (and ( Read more... )

Seeing Okita in the place where Guy was used to seeing him and talking to him with at least some level of normality had done a decent job of soothing Guy's nerves. He still hadn't been able to get much out of his roommate, though that seemed to be due to some level of memory loss. It was similar to his own situation, and yet the things he had forgotten about had been in his past, not in the immediate. As far as he knew, anyway.

Still, he now knew to stay away from any drugs that the institute offered if possible. Not that he'd been lining up to get them in the first place, but this just made him more stalwart in that decision.

The night came upon them just as it always did, and Guy didn't think much of Berg's voice coming on or his hint that the general was taking on some special assignment. He'd already heard about the missions from Claude and he really didn't want anything to do with them.

Guy was in the middle of changing from the military uniform into his own outfit when the intercom came on again. So soon? It seemed out of the ordinary, but that became even more the case when a siren started and I.R.I.S' voice crackled through the speakers overhead. "Code Red? What's going on?"

The man quickly finished dressing and then grabbed for the bone bracelet he'd dug out of his belongings earlier. He didn't want to put it on yet, so he tucked it into his pocket instead and then grabbed for his sword, radio, and flashlight. It seemed like he had to carry more and more each night, but with this foreboding announcement Guy was in more of a hurry than usual. He didn't have the time to work out a better way to carry everything.

"Looks like something went wrong." If that was the case, then he needed to figure out what it was. Not before meeting his friends, though. Guy sent Okita a glance, finding it hard to leave him after what had happened and yet knowing that he had no choice. "...Please be careful out there tonight, Okita," he said seriously before turning toward the door.

As Guy headed down the hallway, he did his best to drown out the sound of that consistent siren.
