Guy's head was still spinning from finding out that his friend was back once again. He realized that he'd done a good job of keeping his cool while explaining everything to Luke, mainly because nothing would have been solved if both of them had been reeling, but ( Read more... )

Rita glanced up from the device, slightly surprised when the boy offered useful and relevant information. She'd taken him for just another simpleton, but... maybe talking with him wasn't such a big inconvenience after all.

"Sounds like they use them for a lot of things here. That seems practical enough," she commented, sounding a little impressed. When it came to power sources, versatility was a big plus. Should Rita come to need something like that, it was comforting to know that so many of those cores were interchangeable.

She replaced the cover over the batteries, but then looked to see what else she could find. There was a small square-shaped object that seemed to be inserted through the top. Curious, Rita pulled it out and turned it over in her fingers, finding that it was labeled with a colorful picture and the word 'Soccer'. She tilted her head as she tried to hypothesize about its use. "This is that game you were just playing, right? If it's removable, does that mean this device can take other kinds of data, too?" she asked Sora, since he seemed familiar with it. Surely such a complex device could have a multitude of uses besides games.

It definitely was practical, although in the end the thing they needed the batteries for most was their flashlights. Sora figured that for someone living in this world who had a more normal life (that is, a life where they weren't held captive by some crazy military force) these batteries could be used in a ton of different things, but in their case it only helped so much.

The boy watched as Rita continued to tinker with the device. Sora almost wanted to tell her that it was there to play, not to take apart, but if that was what she considered fun then it was probably best if he didn't ruin that. Different people liked different things, after all.

"Oh, yeah, it can play a bunch of different games, I think. There's another one I've played before called Tetris, where you have to stack blocks together. If you aren't careful, though, you'll hit the top of the screen and that's a game over." He wondered if they would be able to find one of the little boxes for that game, since then he could show her, but he realized that probably wasn't likely to happen.
