The whole world was rocking around Ilia lazily, like she had just stepped onto a ship being thrown about in a churning sea. The dark corridor she found herself in remained in motion for a good minute, causing her to feel a bit nauseated. The dim light her eyes were eagerly trying to adjust to didn't help the feeling.
"Rose?" Ilia turned on her flashlight, aiming it low to keep it out of the other girl's eyes. No need to blind her companion at the very start of their preplanned 'adventure.' "Are you okay?"
Ilia's mind eventually cleared, and she wondered at the odd side-effect of the transportation process. She hoped it didn't harken something worse to come in their future, or at least something worse than was already expected from a life in the institute. Future complications from using some unknown technology to get from place to place would not be enjoyable for either of them. As it stood, she didn't have time to worry about that. Time was of the essence.
There was some lighting in the dark underground, but it was dim, with wide gaps between each fixture. They seemed to stretch on into forever on either side. The tracks of the subway dully reflected back Ilia's flashlight beam. It seemed they had arrived at the intended area, at least.
