Night 57: Sun Room

Jul 15, 2011 21:45

[From here]Goku took a giant leap into the room, going even so far as announcing his whereabouts with a loud battle cry. Staff poised to strike, the young boy watched the room for any hint of movement. He turned in a circle, glaring daggers into the darkness as he surveyed chair after couch after table. The lack of lighting put him at a ( Read more... )

Despite his much shorter legs, Son Goku was nowhere to be seen when Taura crept in. She knew better than to call out; there were at least three possibilities.

One, something in the dark had swallowed him whole, in which case, shouting would only lead to her own downfall. Two, what he normally lacked in subtlety he made up for on the battlefield when he chose, and he was somewhere in the shadows. The most unlikely possibility, but not beyond the pale. Third, he was just that fast, and Taura had fallen behind.

She still couldn't afford to run across in plain view. She slipped from shadow to shadow, moving as quickly as she dared.

She really didn't see or hear anything.

The clear sky above allowed the tiniest bit of moonlight into the room, allowing Anise to see nearby silhouettes, even with her flashlight turned off. She supposed it might let her see movement in the room too, but for the moment everything around her was still, with the exception of her two companions.

The downside was that if there was something lurking in the shadows still, Anise and the others were more visible tonight, so they had to keep moving. While usually a chatterbox, Anise kept quiet as she walked along the side of the room.

While hugging the wall sounded like a good idea in theory, he remembered the way that Special Counseling patient had caught him, Guy and Dias off guard with her poisonous weapon the last time they'd done that. Claude hoped tonight wouldn't be a repeat of that incident. Escaping into the Game Room hadn't been very fun or productive.

They needed to stay alert. Sticking close to his friends, Claude kept a firm hold on his sword and silently walked. So far, so good, but...he knew they couldn't really breathe a sigh of relief until they reached those doors up ahead.

Even then, Claude had to remind himself that it wasn't unheard of for something to lurk around in the cafeteria or kitchen. And if they managed to get past those areas, there was no telling what was waiting for them in the basement. They had their work cut out for them tonight, that was for sure.

Everyone was keeping quiet, probably because all three of them had walked through this room at night before and knew the risks and the best way to make it through unscathed. Guy ended up taking the position that was furthest from the wall, wanting to both box Anise in to keep her safe and also make sure that Claude was between the two of them.

He heard someone coming in behind them, though the man escaped into one of the side rooms quickly enough. Unfortunately, they all needed to get across, and that was usually what the guards took issue with. He had his fingers crossed that they would get lucky tonight, seeing how last night they'd been stopped from getting anywhere.

He realized that Aguilar probably didn't give people breaks because of something that had happened before, but still, they did deserve one. Keeping both his breathing and his footsteps light, Guy continued to cross the room with the others.

Admittedly, he was a bit late, but that shouldn't have mattered. He ran on his own watch after all, and since he'd had to record the last showing while preparing for the evening, it only made sense that he would have to watch it all the way through before applying his intellect. He had to have all the background after all!

Because when it came right down to it, reality television really was the most glorious of creations ever thought up by the Earthians! There was just something so mesmerizing about seeing a group of nobodies struggle for their lives, or watching the twisted love affairs of too many suitors pining for only one mate. Not to mention the sickening delight that came when "Nobody A" chocked down a bucket of sheep eyeballs ( ... )

[From here.] [Also, time skipping before Anise, Claude and Guy arrive.]

To Facilier's relief, there was no commotion going on in the Sun Room this time. No fights between two crazed characters or monsters lunging in from behind the couches. The Sun Room was all but quiet, completely devoid of the light which gave it its name in the first place. So far so good...

Facilier could hear voices in the distance, both from behind in the Main Hall and ahead of him. Someone must have already gone through this area, but whether they were heading into danger or not wasn't any of his business. As long as he got what he wanted from here without any interference, he hadn't the ounce of care to spare towards others ( ... )

[Returning from here.]

Pleased with the mostly smooth progress of his night so far, Facilier left the Arts and Crafts room with a smug grin, his pillow case of new found materials slung over his shoulder. He opened the door and quietly stepped back out into the Sun Room--

And completely froze on the spot.

Lights! Lights everywhere! Blinding colorful beams and strident music greeted the doctor like a sudden blast of raw power! The Sun Room had been completely illuminated and everything from the floor to the furniture had been transformed ( ... )

With how quickly the trio had come and left, Baka had not been able to even play them out with his well prepared track of booing when another patient decided to enter the fray. His pretended pouting quickly turned into the professional enthusiasm of a hostess as he spun towards the Arts and Crafts Room door and waved a hand up ( ... )

The flabbergasted Bokor took a nervous step forward, his eyes gradually adjusting to the lights as his mind struggled to decide whether this was truly happening or if he had just entered a whole new stage within a lucid dream. One moment he was in the dark Arts and Crafts room, minding his own business and gathering supplies, and the next he seemed to have walked into some sort of live performance! Facilier could not fathom any sense in any of this at all ( ... )

"Now now, there are no pardons to be had here!" Baka warned as he waved a finger of his gloved hand Facilier's way, "Nor are there any mistakes! You are most certainly in the right place - the only place in which a person should be able to perform!
