[from here]Moving quickly and quietly, Rita managed to make it indoors without detection. This was going even more smoothly than expected

A brief flutter of movement pulled Goku's attention from the floor to the tables further ahead of him. Someone or something solid shifted through the darkness toward the kitchen. Giving the air a quick sniff, the monkey boy was pleased to discover it was that bird girl he had talked with earlier!
"Oh hey--Heeey~!" Goku shouted after her. Rita obviously hadn't heard him, but that didn't stop him from continuously screaming to catch her attention. "Hey! Heey wai--!" His big head clipped a cafeteria table and the impact dropped him onto the floor like a sack of potatoes.
"Owww owwwah owah!" That damned thing practically jumped out and bit him! He held his abused forehead for a moment until the sudden burst of pain faded and his dizzying vision cleared.
Ambushed by a table. Taura would have liked to say that was a new one, but she'd seen a lot. Being shorter -- or taller -- than average was a recipe for running into things.
He had been calling out, right before she'd entered with perfect timing to catch his little misstep, and not to her. Taura walked up behind him.
"Who are you talking to?" Her voice was quiet, though she held no illusions that it would keep them from being seen. "Is something out there?"
"Eh?" Goku turned around and smiled. "Oh, hey!" Unfortunately, he had only two volumes: Loud and really loud. "I could smell that girl Rita, and I was sayin' 'Hi', but I guess she couldn't hear me..."
Side stepping the table so he didn't simply whack himself a second time, the young boy pointed across the room. "She went thatta way!" He announced with complete confidence. It was too dark to properly see past the first few rows of tables, let alone a distant door, but Goku knew where her scent lingered in the air so he couldn't be too far off the mark.
Thankfully no other tables took him out, but he did give an awing squeak at the larger counter that separated him and the door. Taura could easily jump it, but as a boy barely passed the three foot mark, Goku had to use a little extra finesse to surpass this. With a running start, Goku slid the end of his pole against the side of the counter and vaulted right over.
"Hee hee, easy-peasy!" Now he could reap the benefits of his labor by stuffing himself to bursting capacity!
The cafeteria was completely empty when Guy stepped inside, much like the greenhouse yard and the courtyard. While they'd been delayed by that disaster in the Sun Room, they had now officially avoided that -- and it hadn't taken them much time at all to do so. With any luck, the rest of the trip down would go just as smoothly.
"Just through the kitchen and the fridge after this, right?" he commented half to himself and half to his friends. It had been some time since he'd gone this route, so it was nostalgic in its own way. Not in a good way, though -- it just made him think of all the wasted time, all the failed attempts, and then... that last time, when they'd been chasing after Sync.
Jaw set, Guy tried to force those thoughts away as he crossed the room and rounded the counter that would lead back into the kitchen.
Anise was cautious as she entered behind Guy (though not too close behind - as fun as it was to give him a scare, this wasn't the time), but the Cafeteria seemed to be as quiet and empty as she'd hoped. It would be pretty mean if there was another obstacle right past that weird guy, though.
She nodded when Guy went over their path out loud, and started to make her way across the room, being careful not to leave too much space around herself for a potential ambush.
Even though she was feeling a bit of dread about going back to the basement, part of Anise was just happy to be going there on her own terms, and with friends instead of enemies.
Claude took in a small breath as he entered the Cafeteria. Unlike how busy it got during the day, the room was totally still and empty. He had to admit he'd half-expected to at least see some patients hanging about, but maybe most people had either been stopped by that dance-contest weirdo, or they'd already passed through into the kitchen.
As they made their way ahead, Claude remembered the last time they'd taken this path, and privately wondered where Sync was this evening. Not that he cared, exactly, but it worried him to see that bastard dragging other patients around with him. Of course, there wasn't much they could do about that now. Claude would just have to try to stay on guard and hope Sync's plans were foiled somehow.
"Yeah, it's not far," he responded. After a quick glance over his shoulder, Claude led the way into the kitchen.
