Despite feeling somewhat offended that this woman would think he was crazy, D decided to set all that aside. The most important thing right now was to get out and find his ship, along with his pets. The who and why would have to come later.
Lifting a hand, D gently brushed aside the strands of hair covering his golden right eye and locked his gaze with the woman's. He spoke to her in a firm tone, his concentration never wavering as he attempted to force his control over her.
"Lead me from this building. Take me back to my ship."
Much to both his surprise and dismay, the woman frowned and crossed her arms, seemingly unaffected. "Mr. Duan, that'll be enough of that tone. You know you can't leave until you're better. Now, are you going to come to lunch, or do I have to call an orderly for assistance?"
A sinking feeling was growing in the pit of D's stomach, even as he tried to ignore it. The woman should have been under his control, adhering to his every suggestion. Even the most strong-minded humans found it difficult to resist. What on earth was going on?
"My apologies, madam. If you would be so kind as to lead, I will follow." Humbling himself before a human had always been irksome, but D knew well enough that it was better to remain in a favorable light...at least until he understood what was going on...
So, when the nurse smiled again and led him out into the hallway, D willingly followed without complaint.
