Day 24: Intercom, Lunch
The intercom clicked on amongst some of the more heated doctor-patient arguments.
"That was a long shift, hmm? Good thing that it's already time for lunch! Today, we'll be serving sloppy joes on wheat or white hamburger buns, along with fries or potato chips on the side. Sounds, fun! We'll also be serving all our normal drinks, along with a salad bar that will also offer fresh fruit along with the normal lettuce and carrot fare!"
He paused. These announcements were repetitive, tedious, and it was a wonder in and of itself that he managed to sound so cheery-even falsely--as he made every one of them.
"Hm... Ah, yes, that's right! Nurses, it's time for the new patients in Group Three to be introduced to their new peers. If you'd so kindly attend to them...? Thank you!"
The intercom clicked off quicker than it usually did, but then again, perhaps the usual length of the announcements was a testament to how thorough a person the Head Doctor was.
