[ from here ]

She wanted to run.

She seriously considered running, but that would give her away too easily. It would be loud, too obvious, she wouldn't be able to keep sight of the details around her, and as much of a hurry as she was in, it just wasn't a good option. So she kept close to the shadows, peering around her with what little light there was. For the most part, there was just door after door after door and she was instinctively chewing on her lip now.

How many other people were trapped in this place? Hundreds? Thousands? It was nauseating to think about, even if the only thing she wanted to focus on was escape. Were there even guards? Security? Surely, someone would note the long figure creeping down the hallways (though it'd be quick to take them out if it came to it.) However, as she moved further down, she noted that not only was she not the only person here, but there was a light (coming from a flashlight) that seemed to be what was giving a draping shadow to her actions ( ... )

Jessica staggered back as the flashlight shone at her, bringing a hand over her eyes and squinting. There was no doubt in her mind though once he spoke up and even as she got closer and really got a good look at him, she knew herself. Well, her former self. This was her genetic template and he was here with her.

And when that thought struck her, she was unbelievably mad.

"Peter! What are you --"

She hurried over, closing the space between him and immediately grabbing him in a tight hug, burying her face against his shoulder before pulling back, checking to make sure that he was okay and everything was in one-piece. "What are you doing here? Why are you here? Are you okay? They didn't hurt you, did they --" An unbelievably amount of questions was pouring from her lips and while she was mad that they had brought him here (it was okay for her because she could handle it), at the same time, she was infinitely relieved ( ... )

Jessica grimaced at his sounds of pain, realizing that, okay, maybe he wasn't okay (which was enough to fuel how annoyed she was at everything already.) Still, that soudned like it hurt so something must have happened to him which she was definitely not okay with since he shouldn't be here in the first place, and yet, he was. "S-sorry." She added quickly, looking rather sheepish though that expression was quick to be replaced by something more serious.

"A little "banged up"? You sound like you got your butt handed to you by your entire --" She stopped, catching herself before she let a little detail like their personal lives slip, glancing around for a moment and then continuing. Her tone was a little hushed now, worried sounding even though she was grateful for his presence. "I-I don't know. I just woke up here a few hours ago and I was trying to ( ... )

She found herself tugged to a stop, glancing back over her shoulder and frowning but it wasn't one if displeasure, but more of serious worry as she grew quiet, letting him take her hand in his. However, despite his pleas for her to listen, the only thing she could think of was the fact that she had woken up in some hospital-like place and that she had promised herself that she wouldn't be doing this anymore and she couldn't deal with it and all that rationality that she had pretended she had when she let her room -- was completely out the window.

And now she couldn't leave?

She couldn't do this.

"P-Peter, I-I --" She was shaking her head furiously, refusing to listen, refusing to believe a single word he was saying. "Peter, I can't. I have to get out of here. I can't be here." Her tone was desperate and while his eyes might have been pitiful, hers was watery and very, very scared. "Peter, please. I-I need to --"

She was cutting herself off and sinking into silence, knowing she was going into a losing battle.

When he bit his lip, Jessica found herself chewing on her own again, shoulders shaking and breaths slow, trying her best to stay calm, but those feelings of panic was returning, just like when she had first woke up. Irrational, scared, and jumpy. However, she let him rub her back and she just lowered her head, continuing to chew on her lip and listen quietly at his words. This was... this was crazy.

That was the only thing she could think of. This was insane. Training facility? That was just as bad -- she had spent her time in a training facility. Were people here clones then? For the CIA? Her mind was going a mile a minute and one thought after another were all accusations and assumptions on why they were here and what it had to do with her life before she donned the costume. Magic? Winding up right back where they started? Monsters? Being trained... Not as ( ... )

This wasn't happening. This absolutely wasn't happening. This was what she wanted to keep telling herself. What she was hearing, what she was told was too crazy and she was the clone of the guy standing right in front of her who's creator was a man who thought he had six arms. But the fact that they nixed their powers? No wonder her spider sense wasn't going off. It wasn't that she wasn't around any danger, it was probably because it was simply gone and realizing that was making her rather uneasy. Defenseless, was it was.

However, just as he mentioned his webbing, she knew immediately where his thoughts were jumping next and where his gaze was going and she shifted a little, staring down at her own fingers as well. She hadn't even contemplated using her web -- it was too open, what if someone saw? How much of his web fluid did he use then while he was here? But that was all debatable and she frowned before finally replying ( ... )

At least Jessica was here to voice the thoughts that were going on through Peter's head, whether she was realizing it or not. "Peter, do you realize how dumb that sounds?" She said almost immediately, frowning and still cleaning the remains of the web from her fingertips. "Why would they listen to us? It's not like we can exactly overpower them ( ... )

"It's still a stupid idea. Basically, you guys would be going in there blind and would probably come out with your asses kicked. Or worse." She was crossing her arms now, almost staring him down despite the fact that her stare would still dart back and forth around her. She could, fortunately, wrap her mind around why he thought it was a good idea, but she had experiences that he didn't. She had reconnaissance and tracking and all of that under her belt, but as far as she knew, he didn't.

So she didn't exactly think going in guns blazing like that would ever be a good idea.

Still she shook her head, chewing on her lower lip, just as he did the same. "You'd be surprised on how much we can deal with in a day." The expression on her face seemed almost weary, but he should understand what she meant. After all, their first meeting involved everything possible that could happen and that was surely a lot worse than this, right? This was what she was trying to reassure herself with, despite the fact that it wasn't working very well. Or at ( ... )
