Having spent almost the entire morning in the cold, Edgar finally decided it was time to address his groaning middle. It was hard enough to focus as he thumbed through the coupon book without his stomach doing flips: he was shivering, but still felt tremendous heat radiating from within him. The attempt at a nap on a park bench hadn't helped his

Truthfully, she was afraid. The last time she had eaten real food, she ... couldn't feel pain. Sure, she didn't know if the food had been the actual cause of her lack of feeling, but then again, what if it actually had been? There had been no difference in her day, and yet all of a sudden she couldn't feel pain, or ... anything, really, when it came to her skin. That was still absolutely terrifying to her. In fact, when she walked through the door and into the place, she couldn't help but freeze in her spot, blocking the doorway and entrance into the restaurant.
Turning to look at Edward with her face paling slightly, she bit her lip and looked up at him. She didn't want to tell him about her fear, but ... she knew he would get it out of her sooner or later.
Maybe, for the time being, she could ... distract him.
"Why don't we go somewhere else first?" she asked, not above begging. "I'm not hungry, anyway." She only hoped he couldn't ... actually tell that she was starving. Sure, Edward couldn't actually read her mind, but ... he did know things about her. After all, they had been together for quite some time, how could he not?
(still edward.)

"What are you worried about?" he asked, pressing close to her side. He wasn't going to push her in, of course, but Edward was well aware of how stubborn Bella could be when she was protesting something. Frankly, even with medical degrees, it was still beyond him to remember when and how many times a human needed to eat.
And the thought that she would be afraid to eat had never crossed his mind.
"It feels like you're shaking. Are you sure you're not hungry?" So he was a little suspicious. The fact that she hadn't eaten anything in his sight for a couple of days worried him, as did her incessant promising she wasn't hungry. "I'll even treat you to it. You can use your money to... I'm not sure. Buy a book, perhaps?"

Finally, Bella moved away from the door, pressing herself against the wall, her eyes cast down at the floor, arms limp by her sides. So perhaps she was shaking a little bit. Still, it ... wasn't enough to be worrisome, right?
Edward has more than one medical degree, you doof. He knows these things.
"I'm scared," she told him in a soft, cracking voice. "I ... I think the reason I stopped ... being able to feel pain that night was ... because of the food we were given that night. What if the food really is bugged? Or ... or poisoned? what if I eat again and it happens again? Or something worse? Who knows what could happen! Things are so different now."
Bella's hand lifted to cover her eyes, and she shook her head slightly, trying to dispel the sudden feeling of passing out. Perhaps it was best if she did eat, so she ... you know. Didn't actually pass out or die or something like that. He wouldn't realize she hadn't eaten since she had gotten hurt, right?
"I'm sorry," she told him in a soft voice. "I'm being silly right now, aren't I. I'll ... I'll eat something."
