==> There were halls and doors all around, but no one else to be seen. Gamzee wandered aimlessly, keeping his eyes and ears peeled as much as possible for any familiar voices. There were voices out there somewhere, at least. He could hear them. That meant someone had to be nearby. Were the voices being distorted somehow? He wasn't going to

One of those being why his soldier escort had saw fit to bring him bottles of blood. He had turned paler (if possible) upon opening that box with his damn roommate in the room, the smell emanating out of the box and making his mouth water despite being mostly full of the squirrel's blood. This was what Bella had brought back to his room: a feast for a vampire, practically. All human. All significantly more attractive than what he had consumed last night.
Even if he wanted to swallow every drop, he had to be conservative. Of course, that usually led to being stuck in a room with rotting blood (which his roommate seemed still blissfully unaware of, thank god), but... he didn't want his eyes to be red again. Not tonight.
Move quicker. She's alone. At least she was if she hadn't lied to him again.

Traversing down the corridors continued to prove itself as a dull chore. If not for the increased pounding in his head, Nigredo might have wanted an interruption. A monster, an explosion, another unexpected patient to violate his space and ask him how he was... Anything would have sufficed. As it was, the child only had empty hallways and a headache.
He tapped the flashlight against his temple idly, a part of him tempted to open the bottle and drink its contents. Ethanol was a relaxant, was it not? Maybe it could lessen the tension somewhat. Then again, a scientist had told him drinking away one's problems simply magnified them later. Moderation or risk divorce. He didn't know what exactly that entailed, but it sounded risky.
Maybe he had best move on instead.

At least tonight had purpose. That was better than his first night here. But the purpose was still incomplete.
Mike didn't bother to think about it too deeply, instead focusing on moving quickly and silently through the hall.

In all truth, Phoenix was a little creeped out by what he was finding (or the lack thereof). The hall was dark, empty, and silent - and shining the beam of his flashlight around had merely given him evidence of the fact that there were other doors, all of them looking similar to the one he had just exited.
The hall smelled similar to a hospital - mildly sterile - and the tiling of the floor made Phoenix feel certain that he was in some sort of medical institute. The why was only partially answered - he was dead - but why was he here? Phoenix couldn't think of a logical explanation for what was happening - no religion that he had ever heard of stated that the afterlife was a place where a person was left in a hospital, unless reincarnation had turned him into some sort of soldier (though that explanation was far from resolving the situation - it only brought up more questions, most of which made Phoenix's head hurt ( ... )

It was still dark out there, and cold as well. He hadn't realized he was missing his gloves until he rested his hand against the cool wall outside his room. This didn't seem like outside, either, and the darkness was unnerving him. Pure dark, and he stumbled forward one small step at a time trying to figure a way through his fear. So far so good; nothing had managed to come out and kill him yet. No shouting and no attacks or gunshots.
Not that it helped his panic any. Maybe if there were gunshots or something, he would stop trying to imagine monsters in the dark. But the longer the silence and the darkness, the more his paranoia reached new heights. The more his hands shook as he reached for the next portion of wall, waiting for it to come to an end so he could hopefully find another door. Find a way out. He had to find his way back to Sazh and Vanille before he could relax again. Find his way out and not get into any more trouble ( ... )
