Sleep came and left Kaworu easily. He couldn't remember most of the time he had spent there in bed, but he acknowledged the absence of experience. Nothing had happened that day. A person had told him to sleep, and laid a hand on his head. He had felt nothing. He only stayed still, and waited for the bleed of identities that did not come. He was

Well, whatever the reason, the guardian inclined his head in both acknowledgment of Touya's greeting and a greeting of his own and started to step back... then paused. He was still for a moment, expression blank and eyes unfocused in the way that indicated he was conversing with his other self, then finally breathed a faint, resigned sigh and closed his eyes. With a faint shiver that reached out to the tips of their wings the two halves switched places, then Yukito opened his eyes and stepped forward, moving to slide his arms around Touya's waist and rest his forehead on the other's shoulder.
"I convinced him to let me have a minute," Yukito admitted, sounding a little apologetic. "We never get the chance to do this during the day." And after that talk they'd had earlier-- well, he wasn't sure if Touya needed the reassurance as much as he did, but it was still a comfort to actually hold him without someone watching.

It was clear enough when Yuki's arms went around his waist, and Touya suddenly found himself with an armful of Other Self. Ah... maybe the change had only looked so awkward because he'd never seen it take place without a full body-change during the night. Or maybe because Yue and Yuki were upset, and he knew Yue wouldn't just reach out and ask for comfort. Yuki would, and Touya would always be there to give it.
He wrapped his arms around Yuki's shoulders and pulled him close, resting his cheek on the other boy's head.
"I know... do you want to come inside for a minute?" He wasn't uncomfortable out in the hallway, but if Yuki wanted to calm down before going to Sakura's room, he wouldn't argue the point.

"I'd like to, but..." Yukito chuckled softly, half-closing his eyes. "I think if we did we'd find a reason to keep delaying." The last time they'd paused 'just for a minute' before going to pick up Sakura, they'd ended up being late enough to worry her-- and Yue was already fretting at the delay.

It wasn't fair. He only wanted a minute.
Without turning his head, Touya looked down the hallway and back. It was quiet, everyone must have left the moment the doors opened or were still gathering their things. He pulled back and gently tipped Yuki's chin up.
"Just one," he said before firmly kissing Yuki. He had just one, he'd better make it count.

Had it not been for Yue he might have lost track of time entirely, but slowly the guardian's sense of presence grew stronger, almost as though he were looming nearby and edging closer to remind them that he was there. Yukito finally drew back, slowly and with clear reluctance, lifting a hand to rest it lightly against Touya's cheek. "Just one," he agreed in a sigh. As soon as they were out of here he'd be making up for lost time, that much was certain. Perhaps it was an added impetus to find that way out.

"Just one," he said again, though he could feel his resolve wavering, what with Yuki's hand on his cheek like that. He gently pulled it off and bent Yuki's hand back so it was resting over the other boy's heart. Then he drew back. The space between them had never felt so painful.

Yukito smiled and forced himself to turn away... but refused to let go of Touya's hand as he did. And even as he drew back from the forefront of their mind, allowing Yue to take control of his body once more, still that contact remained. Perhaps the guardian was simply so intent on his destination that he hadn't noticed it, though, for once in control he set off along the hallway in a purposeful stride without bothering to look back.
