Of Tacos And Bitches

So today......Today sucked ass. And not in the fun, sexy way.

I was scheduled for 11-7. I had a hard time falling asleep last night, so I was still tired when I woke up. On top of that, not only is my sinus pain back, it's worse. The antibiotics didn't work. That, or I didn't have an infection. So I took some Tylenol when I got to work, but I hadn't eaten anything since the day before, so it made me nauseous and gave me heartburn. The heartburn made me shaky and sweaty, and Tiff had me cooking with her for the lunch rush. I felt so crappy I was just in a daze, not really paying attention to what I was doing. I felt better once I ate something, though.

Then I had to do training, which I'm always so nervous about. I haven't had much luck training in the past, and it gets frustrating when the trainee doesn't catch on. It amazes me how something that I just consider to be good common sense completely eludes another person. Now I understand why all my supervisors kept praising me on how quickly I caught on when I was in training.

Well, Beanz and I were the only ones on from 3-5, and the trainee was there from 2-4, so we got nothing done. As soon as the trainee left we were running around trying to do the four o'clock list before the dinner rush and the closers got there. Yeah, that didn't happen. At around 5:30 was when the dinner rush hit, and I on drive thru. I was taking this lady's order, and she got mad at me when I misheard her and corrected me, even began repeating her order. Now, in drive thru, each order is timed, from the moment the car pulls up to our menu board to the time they leave the lane with their food. The time for each order is then averaged out every hour by our Fast Track, and we record it. We want to keep the time to a minimum. When the lady paused in her repeating of her order, which I had all of, I said "Okay, will there be anything else?". She replied "Yeah, you can take your attitude and shove it up your fucking ass!" and pulled away. Beanz, who'd been listening in, said to cancel her order and that if she pulled up to the window tell her we refuse to serve her. I watched the window warily, ready for a fight, but she must've just left. Then I turned to Beanz and said something along the lines of "What the hell happened? What did I do?". She just shrugged and said that the lady was just a bitch. That helped. Whenever a customer gets like that (It's only happened a handful of times in my two years there, thank god) I immediately think "OMG they're gonna call corporate and they'll call Lisa and she'll call Tiff and I'll get my ass chewed out". But each time it was just the customer overreacting and the supervisor would always tell me so, letting me know that if they do complain, I'll have someone backing me up. I was still pretty shaken up and took myself off of drive. I may have been a little short with the lady. I'd been on all day and hadn't gotten my second break and really just wanted to go home. Still, that definitely doesn't excuse the way she acted.

Please try to remember that the people who work those ridiculous, menial labor jobs, do so to pay bills and support families. If we didn't, well, you'd just have to stay home and cook, and we wouldn't want that, now would we?
