Turkey Day and "Twilight"

. . . I'll leave the audience to decide if there's an unintentional irony to that title or not. ;)

Anyway, posting from my Mom's compter while she makes pumpkin pie (yay!); she only has Safari, which doesn't allow Rich Text formatting on ElJay, so I'm gonna be trying to manage cuts'n'stuff entirely in HTML. Wish me luck . . .

Well, if it's an accurate book-to-movie translation, more power to 'em. And just cuz I found it dull doesn't mean anything more than that it's my opinion. Clearly, other folks feel differently. :D

Actually, IIRC, the author didn't release that Edward-POV version, at least not until it was leaked to the net somehow and she released it officially as a form of damage control. And then she declared she was taking her toys and gonig home (i.e. not finishing the book in question), though I imagine in the long run she'll cave to fan pressure (and the lure of great wodges of cash). (Sorry if that sounds too rude -- I'm not trying to particularly harsh on her or anything, just being more generally cynical; FWIW, I think the same about JKR and more HP books).

I kinda figured that the super-speed vampire driving was probably the rationale for the apparently instantaneous transition form WA to AZ . . . but since there wasn't even a throwaway sentence of explanation in the movie, it still played as a fairly doofus moment.

i think that the instantaneous transition was a lack of coherent cinematic storytelling more than anything else. i was wondering myself how everyone got there so fast, since no one said anything about teleporation... :D

Chalk up a big negative point for the filmmakers on that one, then.

there were a few points where it seemed obvious that they filmed, but later edited out scenes that would have made things flow better. i find this irksome in any movie i see it in - if the movie makers are going to tell me a good story, who cares if it's going to add a few more minutes to the movie's running time? if they're so concerend with how long i'm sitting in my seat, then maybe they can show fewer previews and commercials in front of the movie.

seriously, they showed 22 minutes of material before the movie, including 7 minutes of commercials, followed by far too many previews for things i couldn't care less about (except for harry potter. that movie with dakota fanning looks interesting, as well.).
