Year's End, New Year Beginning

Dec 28, 2006 10:08

This is one of those years with all the elements of a roller-coaster. There have been some really good moments and some really miserable ones. All years are like this to some extent, but this one was extreme.

Windstorms and Sterling Silver roses, health problems and healings, getting reacquainted with my brother and losing my mother were all part of it.

I learned about Freddie Mercury and Queen. I found an incredible recording of the Rachmaninoff 3rd piano concerto (Martha Argerich)and heard some really bad recordings of Beethoven's Moonlight.

Now it's time to look at it and see what I want to take into the new year.

Each year we take the calendars and transfer the important stuff to the new calenders and datebooks. Then the old ones are shredded to put into the fires on New Year's Eve. We put the pain and hurt, the things that went wrong, anger and old, unneeded junk on the logs and let them be transformed into light and warmth. That's what we want to bring along, into the new year.

To all the friends and family, may this new year bring you health, wealth and time enough for love.

Bright Blessings!
