Today Was The Day… - Chapter 1: Monday

Jaejoong was pretty sure he was at the right bus stop as he looked at the timetables on the bus stand. In fact, he was quite sure since one of the staff he frequently worked with had walked him towards the bus stop and told him which bus to board to the train station and his final stop. That had been fifteen minutes ago and the staff member had boarded his own bus; Jaejoong decided that his was late.
I don’t know what the fuss was all about, he thought to himself as he saw his bus approaching, manager hyung almost threw a fit when he found out I lost my car key! And it’s lucky I dodged that vase when I said I’d get public transport home! And then he started saying it’s been years since I started driving and that all the public transport systems have changed, surely they can’t have changed that much. Shaking his head, Jaejoong concluded that it would not be hard to find his way.
Jaejoong climbed onto the bus and looked around for spare seats. He sighed in resignation when he found none and walked down to stand near a pole by a seat that allowed him to look out the window. He held onto the pole as he fished his ipod out of his pocket and looked through his music tracks before selecting a track to listen to. Jaejoong pulled his headphones up from around his neck to his ears before tugging his beanie more securely over his head. The bus gave a jerk causing Jaejoong to lose his balance and he found himself falling towards the window when hands grasped his forearms securely.
“Careful,” a deep voice said and Jaejoong looked down.
“Ah, th-thank you,” he stammered out as he straightened up, and the guy nodded before he pushed his glasses back up and returned to his book.
Jaejoong tilted his head to read the title and gave up when he recognised it was in English. He turned his gaze to the guy’s face and was awed, he’s so handsome, he’s got strong jawbones but his lips look so soft and he looks like he works out a lot-
Jaejoong’s thoughts were cut off as he realised that the guy was looking at him staring at him and he blushed. The guy scoffed and turned his face as a small smile played on his lips.
The bus stopped to allow a pregnant passenger on and the guy stood up from his seat to allow her to sit down.
“Excuse me,” he said as he brushed against Jaejoong who found himself blushing again.
“It’s okay.”
The guy smirked and Jaejoong felt a flash of anger, he’s teasing me!
Before Jaejoong could retaliate, the guy was off the bus and headed towards the subway. Without a second thought, Jaejoong chased after him and ran straight into the barriers causing him to curse. He hurriedly went to a ticket machine and frowned as he saw the prices, since when have tickets been this expensive?! He fed the correct change into the machine and grabbed the ticket as he looked at the direction he last saw the guy going to.
Jaejoong soon found himself in a crowd of people and hastily put on a facemask, making sure that his hair was under his beanie. He put his hands into his jeans pockets and hunched his shoulders, and moved with the crowd as they got on the train.
So tight in here, Jaejoong thought to himself as he tried looking for space or somewhere to sit down when someone pressed against him. He glanced down thinking that it was an accident when he felt a hand on his bottom giving it a squeeze and Jaejoong tensed up. I can’t attract attention to myself, people will know who I am!
The hand moved forward and Jaejoong tried to shrink himself when the hand was removed from his body and he looked to see the guy holding onto an older man’s arm.
“Yah,” the guy’s voice was laced with danger, “He belongs to me.”
The older man threw a terrified glance at Jaejoong and pulled his arm out of the guy’s tight grip and moved away quickly.
“Come here,” the guy commanded as he pulled Jaejoong towards him by the doors. He pushed Jaejoong’s back against the door and stood close in front of him, one hand holding onto the pole above their heads and the other hand resting against the glass pane of the door holding an open book, his body slightly bent forward to read.
Jaejoong glanced up from above his facemask only to have his gaze met.
“Have I got something on my face?” the guy asked and in response to Jaejoong’s blank stare, he clarified, “This is the second time you stared at me.”
“Ah,” Jaejoong gave a nervous chuckle. “You look like someone I know,” he lied.
“Oh,” the guy replied as he focused his attention back to the book.

Even though the crowd on the train had lessen with each stop, the guy did not move away from his position and Jaejoong found himself deeply embarrassed by the stares the remaining passengers had given them.
“Ah, it’s almost my stop,” the guy broke the silence between them as he closed his book and straightened up. “Where are you headed?”
“Er…” Jaejoong replied as he hastily pulled his ticket out and glanced down.
“That’s the opposite line, you know,” the guy’s tone was laced with amusement and Jaejoong glanced up. “Following me?”
“Ah, no, I bought the wrong ticket,” Jaejoong answered as he stepped away from the guy and sighed to himself.
“Does being close to me make you uncomfortable?” the teasing voice questioned and Jaejoong found himself getting flustered all over again.
The guy gave a quiet chuckle and pulled Jaejoong with him through the opening train doors. He pointed Jaejoong to a direction. “That’s where you go to get on the train headed back the way we came. Stay on it til you get to your stop,” he paused before adding, “Hm… maybe I should go with you. You look like you’re out of it and I’m worried someone will take advantage of you, little kitten.”
“Hey!” Jaejoong protested, “Why are you addressing me in such a familiar manner?”
The guy’s smirk only served to infuriate Jaejoong even more. “Sorry. Maybe I’ll see you around then.”
The guy gave a nod and walked down the platform with his head buried in the book again. Jaejoong found himself looking at the guy’s back and feeling a sense of disappointment. Shaking his head at what he was feeling, Jaejoong took out his phone and made a call.
“Hyung, come and pick me up - I got the train and got off a stop too early. By the way, when did they start adding more stops to this line?”
“Jaejoong,” the voice over the phone sighed, “This is why you shouldn’t lose your car key.”
