Here in Greece we've got early elections this weekend. Again.
'Green' is good and this time around there have been considerably fewer flyers, mailers and posters littering the city and the mail and this is being touted as the candidates' concern for the environment. However in the final week prior to Sunday's vote, the push is on and everyone seems to be trying to get in the last word.
It's common for political parties to put their posters up on lampposts. In years past, hours later, a different party would come along the same street, pull down said posters, leave them lying at the base of the pole and replace them with their own.
The other night on my way home from work I saw some youngsters from the communist party tearing down another left party's posters to put theirs up. After ripping down the old posters they took the time to lug the old ones to the nearby recycling bin. I had to smile.
