Rainy Days and Mondays.
It was the first day back at work for me. It's just an hour a day for a week to finish up an accelerated summer class but still. I'll get about 10 days off after that and will begin regular classes on the 16th.
Deedles is in town. We had arranged to meet for a coffee today. It never rains in Athens in the summer. Never. As odds would have it we got a freak thunderstorm as we were getting ready to leave. It was actually pouring - by Michigan or Florida standards, not Greek ones. I called her and cancelled and we're busy tomorrow and they'll be departing for a trip through the islands on Wednesday. :( Athens doesn't do well with rain. The streets flood, hell the sidewalks flood. It's a good thing we were home as with the leaves on the balcony the drain got plugged and it was filling up rapidly. At least the power is back on? I couldn't quite understand her reaction until she said it wasn't raining downtown. I actually opened the window so she could hear the rain and incessantly rolling thunder.
We feel really bad about missing her but we're hoping to get to Dublin next October so we'll see.
