I'll tell you what really helped me regain that not driven for ages confidence situation
An epic voyage of discovery, i.e. piloting a van from Penrith to Leicester and back in a single weekend.
The step change in my driving confidence after that really surprised me, I think it's really a case of proving to yourself that you can do it.
