Ok, so I've been back from Texas since January 23rd, but I haven't posted anything other than a Happy Birthday to Trystbat. I have been lurking so I do know what you all have been up to. There's a lot to report so I'll start with my visit with Mom and Dad.
I chose a week that Mom had a few activities booked. Have I ever mentioned that she has a bigger social life than I do? She drove straight from a meeting of her quilting guild to pick me up at the airport! Mom is a member of the Padre Island Enrichment club (aka the PIE club), the Red Hat club, 2 book clubs, a quilting guild, a garden club, a lunch bunch group, as well as playing bunco and along with my Dad is active in the church and the local yaght club. Wednesday was book club where we discussed "I Still Remember You" by Fannie Flagg. Thursday night we went to see a play in Port Aransas with 3 of her best friends to celebrate one of the ladies' birthday. Friday was lunch bunch at one of the new TexMex restaurants. It was great to be able to share in Mom's life even though we were non stop go most of the week.
We also hit up my favorite Corpus shops so I could start assembling my wardrobe for the new Spring/Summer '12 dress code at work. I'll go in greater detail in my fashion and costumes filter, but this season is so not goth friendly. The overall vibe is a very feminine girly girl in jordon almond pastels. It's Jason Wu for Target and Prada's take on rockabilly. Both Mom and my sister gave me cash for my birthday and I used that to purchase new clothes. I was very frugal with my choices and made sure that everything fit and flattered my shape. (Although I am kicking myself for not trying on the Jill Sander linen shirt that was $6.95. At the time, I thought it wouldn't be right for work, but I realize now that it's perfect.) I'm still not done acquiring what I need for the season but it's coming together.
What Mom and I didn't get to do is see a movie, go to the aquarium, or visit one of the bird sanctuaries.
icprncs you would love the bird watching on Padre Island. The drive from Corpus to Mom's house is rich with Gulf Coast wildlife. I saw pelicans, storks, herons, and others that I couldn't make out the species. The next time that I visit, Mom and I are going to chill and not do as much.
The rest of my vacation was spent sleeping. No, seriously, I slept until 10:30, noon, or 2:00PM every day that I was home. I went to Ceremony, Excess, and XMortis. I also started spring cleaning and got most of the clutter out of my sleeping quarters. There's a lot left to do.
