my sick December and January.

So a couple months ago, I was trimming toenails and scraping calluses. (Foot care for a diabetic is actually a pretty serious issue). Scraped layer after layer of callus off the side of my small toe and suddenly the next layer was bleeding like crazy. Bandaged it up and let it sit until it was no longer actively bleeding, and settled into a wound care routine. Got an infection a few weeks later, antibiotics took care of that.
January I got the triple whammy of norovirus, chest congestion, and probably RSV. Wasn't COVID as that was the only test I could find and it was negative. Two weeks of misery ensue. Today I'm finally feeling well enough from that and did the trash run and such. But the toe is turning all sorts of Technicolor so off to the emergency room. Yup, infected, wound is open to the bone, so they are admitting me to hospital while they do more antibiotics and get an MRI. This will take a couple days as MRI is closed weekends. I'm waiting for a bed to open up for me someplace now.
I'm not looking forward to calling my boss tomorrow to say I'm out sick for another week.

sick diabetes toe infection.
