Steampunk vampire, a few accessories and the start of a corset

I love the bits and extras for costuming and I am in desperate need of a bag to carry my wallet and a few essentials.  So I used some of the left over fabric and trim to make a quick bag.  I also put together a simple necklace and started a new corset.

The bag was made of some left over trim and fabric I had laying around.  The red tassels are made of red fringe that I just rolled up and stitched to make a tassel.  The little heart is a random iron-on rhinestone heart that came free with my last hotfix rhinestone order. The bag is just big enough to hold my wallet, keys, glasses and a small notebook.  Perfect for attending cons.

I bought a steampunk lace machine embroidery pattern from Urban Threads and used it as the base for a choker.  I used some red crystal beads and some metal gears I had laying around as an accent.  The choker ties on with some organza ribbon.

I also started a red silk corset and I drafted the pattern myself.  This is my first overbust Victorian style corset that I have made.  I have previously made two underbust corsets and a several pairs of stays.  I hope this pattern works out, but I suspect it is going to need some tweaking. I decided to do bust gores since most Victorian type corsets seem to make me seem small busted.  I am hoping with the bust gores will make me look a bit more curvy.   I had some red silk fabric left over and some black twill so I figured this is a good set of stuff to use as a first try with this pattern.  I bought several spools of corset boning so all of the boning had to be cut by hand.  The spring steels are all capped and the white steels are all filed down and ready to insert.  Here is the corset in progress so far.

I will say working on this corset is a lot of fun, but cutting boning makes my hands really sore.
