So I have continued to work on the steampunk vampire hat. Well actually 2 of them. I figured if I get a hat then my husband should get one too. So in both cases, the basic hat was blocked over an antique wood hat block, after blocking both hats have a millinery ribbon hat band to preserve the size of the hat.
Red Hat
My hat was then covered in hot fix crystals in two shades of red. I added a decorative external hat band made of a cut of lightweight black lace. I then added decorative blood vials and a small fan of heavy lace centered with a red crystal button. I need to try to get a picture of the hat on my head but I am pretty happy with how it came out.

Black hat
My husband wanted a black hat to go with his outfit too. So I made him a black hat with red and white detailing. He specifically wanted a hat with a large brim. So after blocking and adding the internal hat band, I added millinery wire to the edge. I then used millinery ribbon to cover the wire. I added white hotfix skulls to the edge and gunmetal hotfix skulls to the external hat band. Finally I added a decorative blood vial that I made and discussed in my previous post.
