I hate to use these two terms (they're almost as illogical as "elitist"), but I'm going to use them, anyway; these terms are "dubbie" and "newbie." I'm a hypocrite and a total ass, I know. Whatever. It's our journal, and I get to rant :P

As for the canon vs. non-canon debate, if you're referring to manga vs. anime, or even DB/Z vs. GT...I think that's been around for at least the last few years. Thing is, I don't think it was as much of a catch term 4-5 years ago as it is today. It's almost as if one is showing off by arguing canon vs. non-canon in *most* cases these days. Personally though, I can at least see the point of arguing Toriyama's original stories have more weight in the world he created than Toei's attempt to continue/milk the franchise.
If we're talking dub vs. original Japanese, well...I've seen too much stuff translated in a fucked up manner, and am willing to overlook small inconsistancies...but when someone wants to argue that Vejita went SSJ because he reached some sort of state of enlightenment...arg, it hurts my head...
In short, you go to DB communities, you're risking a loss of quite a few braincells :P
