Well, still here in the place where I was born. I don´t knwo if I can claim that I grew up here. Does eight years count? It is all very strange, and rather wonderful.
As per usual, getting to know Mexico is a task for me. The main reason that we come here is to see family, so really finding out the nuts and bolts of the place is often put in the backburner to long talks over dinner, or simply skimming to more picuturesque tourists places.
I don´t complain at all, I´m having a killer good time. In fact, for the first time ever, I can envision myself living here for a while.
I am also convinced that (where I ever to get married), the person that I was with would have to spend some time with me here in this country. It is too tied up with who I am, to formative not to want to share this with someone. Moreover, I don´t know if I could unendingly love someone that didn´t find some facination here. Even though it isn´t a place where I would liek to spend the rest of my life in, I find myself at the moment with a certain type of calm that I´ve been missing for some years.
I´ve never taken anyone to Mexico, but I think that next trip I will. I remember that I promised both Liz and Mel that I´d taken them here. Neither eventuated, but I guess I would still take them, should either ask.
I shant hold my breath.
There are others I think that might like it here. Some are obvious choices (for example, a certain brazilian I know!), but others are not. I´d like to take Jimmy here, for example, even though I know he´d hate most of it. But I think that he´d like the sheer difference of this society to what he is used to. I also think that both Lorian and Daniel will like it here. Offcourse, the latter will find out for himself soon, but I want to be there when he does! Alas, I will not.
Hmm, I can´t think of an appropriate segway into the next tid bit of info, so I´ll just say it out of context. The spanish lesson for today is "barra libre". It means that after paying the cover charge, you get all you can drink local drinks. Yes... this allways includes margaritas and pina coladas. Can you imagine all you can drink alcohol for less than $20. Life here is awsome that way.
