If you like pina colada.

Well, Mexico is going absolutely wonderful. Yet I feel like quite the nerd, because I feel like I want a laptop with me all the time, so I can record the wonderous sights around me. Truly, the Geek is strong in this one.

Without further ado... let me retell all the boring details of this trip.

DAY 1 - The plane trip sucked, as per usual. Nothing to whine about, specially since every year I whine so much about every little useless detail. This year, I think I´ll be a little more selective with my prattle... specially since I find myself in a silly internet cafe with a very little time.

The only thing worth noting is that Qantas has substancially elevated their level of costumer service, to the point where they don´t suck SO much.

Met the connecting flight, and headed down to Cancun. Many of you will know if from the stupid film about kids there on spring break. Seems every pratty American with a lot of money and virtually no intelligence or world knowledge wants to go there. So typically, the airport pretty much runs on English, and every is trying to get you to spend money.

What you have to realise is that I don´t really look all that Mexican here in Mexico. Sure, in Oz, I´m the little wog kid from way back when... but here, I´m just another one of the bunch. And since I have weird ass hair and a labret, I kinda don´t look like your typical local. So I get bunched in with these spring break fucktards. But enough of that.

We ended up waiting for my parents, who were coming in a seperate flight, for over 5 hours. This would not have been as bad if this place wasn´t so fucking hot. Ít is really hot here.... really... really... painfully hot. It is like being in Malaysia on a sunny day. The humidity is impossible, and just sitting around left me in a pool of sweat. I guess that appeals to some people (sickos), but is sure as fuck isnt´my cup of tea.

We were being greeted by my aunt and uncle who live in Cancun...which was cool to catch up with. The problem was that my parents were livid after being jerked around by their airline. One of their bags was lost, and their original flight had been overbooked. It just wasn´t going to be a good day. But we got to the hotel, exchanged bitchy stories to each other, and headed off for a new day.

I should point out that there are a bunch of us travelling together. Basically... my dad has a sister and two brothers, and they are all here. The sister is the one that lives in Cancun, and she has two daughters, my sister´s and my age. But I digress.

That night we ate at hte hotel restaurant. The food was average... but the margarita I had was awsome!!! I´ll upload the photo of it later, but it was massive, and it was really bitter.. the way they should be. If I can have a margarita everyday that I´m here... I´ll be a happy man.

DAY 2 - Started off with a killer breakfast of gorditas. These are a mexican thing that is useless for me to try and explain. But they were of porc rind, of "cochinita pibil", "reboltijo", "mole". ...... so much goodness. That with a tamarind drink.. and I´m in heaven.

We then went to a beach that is next to some ancient Mayan ruins. Now, I lived in the shitty Central Coast for a long time, so I know my beaches. But this one was stunnign. Never have I seen such white sand, nor such clear water! It was straight out of a post card.

- Side note : There are a lot of people in Mexico, and with the law of averages, you find that there are several women here that are uncommongly pretty. I have an idea that I have to get a group of guys to come down and see for themeselves, because Mexican girls are HAWT!!! Specially those bums! But since I know the bullshit rituals involved in courting in this country... I think that I´ll leave them to others more brave than I.

After the beach, we went to dinner and had a wicked ¨comida corrida -.

TODAY - Headed off to Merida. It is the most wonderfully quaint collonial town I´ve ever been to. There are markets and a town square, and in about 5 minutes I´m off to see a show of traditional folkloric dancing. It is awsome, and I´m having a great time.

I´m in a pretty nice internet cafe, but there is no time left for me to say much else. I actually wanted to write a lot of people emails, but I will have no time. Perhaps I should chose to respond to emails before I write in these pages, but quite frankly, I´m on holidays, and I will be self-indulgant if I chose!

As for the internet cafe thing... well... the keyboard is pretty much the same except for certain little keys... enough for it to shit me qutie a lot. I´ll try and write a bit more in teh coming days. As for your emails... please rest assured that they shall be answered... at some point. Now.. I have to head off to some dancing.....
