They'd come so far. They were going to be okay, all of them. They'd take control of the ship and that DRT machine also. They were finally going to go home.

But he bypassed Nash, and went straight to Fletcher. "You guys are alright?"

"We haven't been injured," Nash replied, looking over Russel to make sure he was all right. He didn't seem to be hurt despite what he'd said earlier, so he must have gotten himself to a healer. And Nash wasn't telling the complete truth; it wouldn't be visible under his long sleeves, but Fletcher was wearing a t-shirt, so there was no hiding that now-healing, self-inflicted knife wound on his arm. "How did you make it over here?"

"Having another alchemist around will be useful in helping to take control of this ship," Nash said. "You've received the antidote, yes?"

"Whatever the plan is, it's not something I know about," he answered. "Fletcher and I have remained in this safe zone for the past three days. I'd recommend speaking to another person."
Fletcher seemed worried. "We could just stay here," he suggested. "And make sure this place stays safe."

Any protest Nash might have had was cut off by Fletcher. "Brother's actually really strong," he said, and from the way his face was set in determination it was clear this wasn't just brotherly adoration speaking. "He taught me everything I know, and he's even as good as this friend of ours who's a State Alchemist."
And Fletcher's determination and willingness to speak up like this -- even as young as he was -- surprised Nash and made him consider. He'd seen a small hint of how powerful Fletcher was; Russel was likely moreso. "You'd better not get killed," was all he said.

He knew and understood very acutely where Nash's misgivings came from. "Alchemy is for the people, right?"
Reply
He surprised himself by thinking that maybe, perhaps, they could discuss it when they went home.

A year had passed since she was waiting on the beach. Now she stood standing below the decks of a ship for the exact same person.

But now he'd finally been teleported to the ship she was on, and he'd get to see her himself! As soon as he got the time to get away, he practically ran to where they said she was waiting.
Sora didn't bother with pauses or waiting this time...he just rushed straight up and wrapped his arms around her in a hug.
"Kairi!" He couldn't think of anything else to say, although just in her name there was a whole world of relief, of gratefulness, and happiness.

"Sora! It's really you!" It wasn't an illusion. It wasn't another dream like she'd had the last few nights. It was him.
With her eyes shut tight, Kairi gave him a huge smile. "I couldn't wait. I knew I'd see you again." Even then, a tear inched down her cheek. "And you're okay!"

Sora nodded...he knew that they would always see each other again. "Yeah, but..." Sora suddenly panicked at the sight of what looked like a tear rolling down Kairi's cheek. "Don't cry! I'm okay, really!" He spread his arms out as if to demonstrate how injury-free he was (even though in actuality he WAS still sore from fighting and getting shot in the arm at least once).
