Sherry had spent the day cleaning up their new "apartment", studying, and generally keeping herself out of trouble. She'd finished with her anatomy lesson, moved on to the proscribed pages her father had marked in a math book and had managed to even start a meal of canned sauce and spaghetti. Cooking, Sherry learned, wasn't so difficult if you just read the directions and kept your eyes on things. Besides, her father would be hungry when he came back.
Actually, he probably wouldn't; Sherry knew that, but decided to make something to eat anyway. The long stretches of listening to the radio (dead air, no signal) or humming up tuneless songs to entertain herself were beginning to drive her nuts. There were movies in this house, and in the one next to theirs, but they were mostly bad.
The sun had already set, and with the crabs being out more often than not, Sherry wondered just when it would be her father would be coming home.
