Mia sat back and turned off the computer, looking down at the red marks around her wrists again. Two days they'd be gone...and she didn't remember any of the interim, of course. She'd be surprised if any of them did. All she had thought of since waking up was taking an inventory of where they were, who was there and using the hospital computers to relay the information.

Now she had unpleasant thoughts of what might have been done to them in her mind, and the pounding of her head and the raw skin around her wrists weren't helping matters. Mia got to her feet before her mind could lead her to those dark places, and went to check on how the others were doing.

Bill was still barely aware of anything. He'd taken stock of the given data. They weren't in Manhattan, his wrists were painful and bruised, probably from some kind of binding, his head felt like it had a zoo monkey exhibit living in it, his stomach was turning (definitely the fast cycle), and he had absolutely zero memory of how he ended up here. He may have had a dream involving a carnival rides, Isaac Newton, and a string of firecrackers, but ultimately that was probably unrelated.

A woman walked into the room and he recognized her as Mia Fey by network and reputation, having not actually met her before. He lifted a hand to wave weakly.

"Morning," he greeted her, his voice sounding much weaker and rougher than he had expected. How long had it been since he'd used it?

When Lelouch had woken up, he was immediately aware of several things. First, that he wasn't in his room. Merely that was enough to heighten his awareness. He didn't open his eyes at first, or shift in any way. When he verified that the voices he'd heard were familiar, he opened his eyes. But the light was painful. And his head pounded. But he hadn't recalled using his Geass.

Finally, his eyes adjusted and he'd pushed himself up. He'd kept himself to the background, speaking only to provide his name to the inquiring Mia Fey. Well, wasn't this interesting? He suppressed a smirk. Here he was, with every single major player in this city, as well as those he could only assume were among the ranks of healers, as that was the only alternate pattern present.

He was in the same room as Bill, sitting against the wall. He carefully examined his wrists. What had he been bound to? For there to be these kinds of welts, it had to have been extremely tight and he had to have been resisting. Rage rose into his shoulders, making them shake. They ( ... )

Mia nodded a greeting to the two who were awake when she walked in, Mr. Nye and Lelouch. Bill sounded terrible, his voice as raspy as hers had been when she woke; having drunk some water, it had improved some, but even the short walk from the computer terminal had dizzied her. Mia sat down and leaned back against the wall, her head spinning.

"You guys all right?"

A room away from where she heard the others' voices, Flute was curled up in a little ball in the corner, her face pressed to her knees. Her head and her wrists ached and tears were sliding freely in trails down her cheeks.

Flonne hadn't felt this bad in a long while - not since the time she'd woken up on the Empire State Building. Whatever had happened there had happened again, except this time they were out of reach from everyone else. This wasn't good...

But Mia was already on the network and talking to people. It would work out.

So, one hand on the wall to steady herself, Flonne went looking. There were other people here, right? She couldn't let headaches and exhaustion keep her down - she had to find them!

It was a good thing that the first person she found was the next room over - she might not have made it further than that. It was a bad thing that the person she found was crying.

She made her way over and knelt next to the girl, putting a hand lightly on her shoulder. "F-Flute-san?"

"Flonne," Flute said quickly, looking up at her. She wiped her tears away with the back of her hand and tried to smile. "I-I'm okay, Flonne, don't worry! I'm just... I feel sort of sick and I'm just a little scared."

She sniffled loudly and tried to stop herself from crying any further. "We'll be okay, I know it. It's just... you know."

That was exactly how Flonne was feeling in so many words. She turned and took a seat next to Flute, trying to see if she really was alright or if she was just trying to be strong for Flonne's sake.

"I know," she replied, "but...I don't think we'll be here long. Mia-san's here, after all - she'll know what to do. And Laharl-san and Etna-san are going to come looking, I know they are...and I don't think your friends will wait around either." She tried to smile through her tiredness - they were incredibly optimistic words, but words she truly believed.

Aerith had never felt this badly before in her life, not even when the Heartless had invaded Radiant Garden the first time. She'd always been able to do something, but the moment she'd woken up this time, she knew something was wrong. Her wrists ached, they were red, and she felt as though she'd been run over by a bunch of Nobodies for days ( ... )

As for Sora, he had felt this way before. This feeling of dread, confusion, fear, eating away at his heart. He could feel the Keyblade just beyond the edge of his reach, far enough away that if he tried to summon it he'd just make himself sick. But this time was even worse...it hurt to open his eyes at first, as if the light was blinding, and his wrists were red and sore.

Sora unconsciously rubbed at them as he stepped out of the hospital room he'd woken up in. He heard familiar voices nearby...Mia, Harry, Flute, Aya...

"Aerith!"

Sora rushed forward when he heard his friend call out, ignoring the fact that he felt like he was about to fall flat on his face again. How many of us went missing? With all the confusion and worry of waking up somewhere unfamiliar again, he also felt a pang of guilt that he somehow didn't prevent this. They'd been studying that note found in the tunnels, mentioning all the people who could heal! He should've been able to warn her! He should've done something...

Aerith had been attempting to move towards the voices, but another one sounded out behind her, more familiar than the others. She wheeled around, feeling a rush of relief as she spotted Sora, someone she knew quite well and trusted above many others. While she was glad to see the familiar face, it wasn't very good news to see that he was suffering from the same thing she was. Her eyes were hurting a bit at the moment, though she hoped that would go away soon.

"Sora!" she cried, moving closer to her friend. "Are you feeling okay?"

It was an automatic reaction, asking how someone was, and she mostly asked just to be sure he wasn't suffering any other effects that she didn't know of. Things were just not so good here, but she was glad to at least see one familiar face.

"Uhh...not really, no," Sora admitted, still rubbing at the welts on his wrists. He seemed to realize that might bother Aerith, and stopped suddenly. He felt a little too sick to really try and lie to her, especially since she looked like she was in just as bad shape as he was. If only I could summon the Keyblade!

Even though this obviously wasn't his fault, Sora still couldn't help feeling responsible for failing to take care of his friends. "Aerith, I...I'm sorry..."

It was probably saying something that Harry's third thought upon awakening, after 'What the hell?' and 'Would whoever is pounding my head kindly go to hell,', was, 'What the hell took them so long?'

Honestly, Harry had been expecting something like this for a while, and after taking stock of himself to make sure he wasn't missing any important limbs or organs, he closed his eyes and concentrated on his Sight. His plan had always been to use it if captured, because whatever they used to wipe a memory couldn't counteract something as deep as the sight.

Unless they used a blindfold, which they did, so that did a fat lot of good. Swearing, Harry tried to stand up and find something to kick, but found himself wobbling on his feet. His wrists burned, and a quick glance confirmed they were marked by the same sores as Yellow's wrists.

'Okay Harry, just stop for a second. You've been taken for an indeterminate amount of time, and had who knows what mad science experiments performed on you in the meantime by a bunch of amoral jackasses ( ... )

Of all times to be powerless, especially like this, it had to be now. After hearing the state of affairs on the island, some good, but mostly bad news, she was nothing short of impatient. Of course, she knew that it would only be a matter of time before any form of rescuers came, but right now, in this very moment... There was someone she had sworn to look after in the hands of a couple of the most dangerous people in the city.

So naturally, she wasn’t in any mood to play along to Dresden’s sense of humor.

At first, she didn’t think to respond to him, but rather walk on.

Leave the hospital. Go out. There’s got to be something on the island that they could use to be able to get back to the city. When she did, she would track down those bastards. They had heckled her enough, and hell, they could do that all they wanted. This, though... This was going too far. What more, they were threatening Eve’s life as well. Eve, who was also still on the main island, and Aya, who was here, miles away from them. The more she thought about it, the ( ... )

Unfortunately, Harry tended to deal with stress or fear with humor, and given his particular obnoxious brand of humor, that meant he wasn't really unfamiliar with people not really appreciating his wit.

Still, he did feel a little guilty when he glanced at Aya's expression, and realized just how much this situation had upset her. 'Way to go Harry. Maybe you should quit magic and take up motivational speaking, or maybe work a suicide hot line for a while,' he thought irritatedly ( ... )

It wasn't of her own volition that Garnet roused from sleep. No, it was the sounds around her, people moving shifting, talking to each other. She heard things before she even realized that those sounds were voices, were people. It took such a powerful effort just to roll over onto her side, curling into a little ball. The second thing she knew, was pain; in her head, in her wrists. Her body felt heavy, as though weight had been tied to her limbs. A soft moan slipped from her lips, before her eyelids dared to part ( ... )

Orihime was curled up in a corner, cheek pressed against linoleum tile. Slowly maneuvering herself into a seated position against the wall, groggy and with eyes still closed, she raised a hand to rub her face and rid it of the unpleasant sensation. Strange, that had seemed much harder than it should, even half asleep. She opened her eyes, blinking repeatedly, and closed them again quickly as the light that met them half-blinded her. It wasn't even bright light, she didn't think. She was probably dreaming, since the only other time Orihime's eyes had done this was when she finally emerged from her period as Gin's captive. That couldn't happen again, she had been in a building full of nice people, so she was probably still sleeping. Covering her eyes with her hands until they gradually adjusted enough that light wasn't painful, she clambered the rest of the way to her feet... and staggered into the wall ( ... )
