Warnings: Violence, heroic rescues, crab battles, and Gin making you want to punch him in the face.
Very few people who knew Chad could ever claim to have seen him upset, and even his enemies would have a hard time recalling an instance when he became aggressive, even in the middle of battle. There was always a strange sort of serene determination about him, so that even when he was facing certain death, he faced it with a clam few men his age could match. It all stemmed back to the lessons he had learned in his youth on how to control and channel the rage he felt at his parent’s death into something productive, lessons he’d built his entire identity around.
That was why even his oldest and closest friends would have been shocked by the young man running towards Ichigo’s house. Even though there were only a few external signs of it, anyone with any awareness of spiritual pressure would realize Sado Yasutora was furious.
Furious at Gin for once again putting his sweet and innocent friend in danger, furious at himself for being responsible for her abduction in the first place, and his inability to find her even after two months of captivity, and furious at his situation that had once again reminded him just how undeserving he was to watch Ichigo’s back.
Once Ichigo’s new home came in sight, however, Chad pushed all of his anger aside. There would be time for guilt and recriminations later, for now the one thing that mattered was getting Orihime back safely. He could feel that Renji and Ichigo were caught up in their own anger, and he knew he needed to be the calm center.
That didn’t mean a part of him, one that had been buried for many years, wasn’t looking forward to smashing Gin’s smiling face in.
