it's the same again, sinner )
Sure, she really could, and should, have handled the situation better, but no matter how clear hindsight was, it didn't change who was at fault. That rotten little brat thought she could just up and take an innocent little kid's blood. Fuck if Tatsuki was about to have that.
The end, though, was still that she couldn't protect Fletcher. She couldn't be trusted to. So it was best for both of them that she leave.
She was still a bit lightheaded from the now-wrapped wound on her wrist, so she had been careful to avoid the crabs rather than just beat the crap out of them like she'd have preferred. Following the signs, she came to the intersection of 28th and 5th. Good, she thought. Should be near here. She spotted a doorway, through which she saw a young, red-haired woman. Was this Riza? Only one way to find out. She approached the doorway.
"Riza-san?"

A stupid question crossed her mind as she started walking off in the direction of her room. "They didn't follow you, did they?"

If anyone had followed, then word would have gotten around pretty damn fast. "It was just the one. She wasn't really moving much after she stabbed herself." Or before, really.

"It's never just one. There's at least three here. And I bet word's already out." It wasn't something she liked saying, but it was true, if she knew vampires. "You might have to lay low for a while."

She shook her head. Vampires. So they actually exist here. "It's not the vampires I'm worried about. It's the people who think it was me who stabbed her." And Fletcher. He was safer without her. "Doesn't mean I wasn't planning on it, though."

"If I know them, they're already telling each other you did it. I wish I could have been there. There's one I can't wait to get my hands on," she said, practically snarling. "But the moon's wrong."

"Here's to when it's right, then." The thought of the little hellspawn being savagely ripped apart went a disturbing way to put a smile on her face again, even if she would've rather done it herself. Still, if she was really a vampire, it was a safe bet that had she been healthy, Tatsuki would be dead right now.

Thank god there was a distraction. "We're here," she said, indicating a door that looked a little scuffed. With a strong shoulder check, she popped the door open. "I broke the lock on this one, but I can get you into any room you want and make sure the door stays locked." She took a few steps in, then invited Tatsuki to do the same. "Come in."
