In the Morning

Jan 17, 2009 19:02

In the morning, when the alcohol wore off, this would all make sense. Operating on that assumption wasn’t a good path to take in the long run, but it was the one Fugaku had currently decided to take, and he’d gotten to the point where returning to the beginning would be more painful than he was willing to make it, he’d said screw it. He would deal with the headache and whatever else he had done to himself in the morning. Because the morning wasn’t here yet and when it came he’d be closer to sober and able to deal with things.

When the morning came, it would all be alright.

Of course it would.

You’re not a good liar.

Fugaku sneered up at the sky. “I don’t need to be,” he said, and took another drink of his brandy, the bottle of orange liquor he’d stolen out of a dead woman’s apartment. It still didn’t taste good.

The square was empty and Fugaku sat down on the ground. He thought about trying to kill a woman here and wondered if this was revenge for something. He had a kid.

Karma hated him.

He had a kid.

There were a hundred things he didn’t want to think about and that was at the top of the list. Fugaku looked at the brandy and still thought it was a good idea.
