Mia had come prepared. Once she'd learned that Phoenix was planning poker games, she'd headed over to a game shop and simply picked up a couple of boxes of chips. She'd learned to play in college, and she knew she could use some fun and relaxation, especially after her talk with Edgeworth.
"Hey there," Mia greeted Phoenix as she approached, taking a seat at the table next to him and opening one of the boxes of chips. "All ready to play."
Riza was actually looking forward to this, for one it was a good idea and for another she had begun to miss the poker nights with 'the boys' back home. Plus she wanted to work on that 'anti-social' tendency she seemed to have, especially about doing things that were considered 'fun' and 'not work.'
It was easy to spot the tables set up for poker and it looked like Mia as well as a young man who she assumed was the one who suggested the poker nights, already setting up. Riza couldn't help but smirk, remembering how many nights she had made Havoc burst into tears by taking nearly all his money not to mention one time his cigarette's when he'd run out of things to bet, "I hope so."
Godot wasn't far behind Mia- it had been almost a decade since he could remember last playing a card game. Back in college he'd been quite the stud when it came to poker, and he was looking forward to a chance to put Phoenix in his place.
"Evening, Wright," he said in a suspiciously friendly tone.
Of course Chief would be better at finding things than he was. He couldn't help a little grin, though - he was looking forward to the game being that much more authentic, and, well. It was nice just having Mia relaxed for once.
But Armando? Phoenix had been hoping they'd had some sort of breakthrough, but he wasn't about to chance getting punched in the jaw after their last disagreement, either; especially not this early in the night. He chanced only a quick nod before smiling up at the other woman - what was her name again? - and settling with a vague enough, "Glad you guys could make it."
House had shown up fashionably late, mostly because he had to walk, which was a bit of an issue. Pushing open the gym doors with his cane, he sauntered in as if he owned the place, popping a few Vicodin in the process.
"So, what'd I miss?" he directed at the group, taking note of the bottle caps and various other bits of trash that he assumed were to serve as chips.
Byakuya had been walking around midtown, trying to find somewhere to go, but everywhere he walked, he'd just gotten more and more confused. Finally, he'd seen House walk somewhere, and thinking he'd seen the doctor somewhere before, he followed the other man to Madison Square.
"Pennsylvania Hotel," he whispered to himself. It was the most untouched building he had seen yet, and he thought he should take note. Card games? he thought, walking in.
He stood in the shadows and sought to observe the others. Perhaps then, he thought, he could learn more about this Manhattan.
Maybe if she showed up at a thing like this, no one would expect anything. She would only watch, really. But she wanted to see Feenie. Dahlia would be alright on her own for a while. She was healing up nicely, at any rate.
She stepped in quietly, and tried to catch Phoenix's eye before Mystic Mia or Mr. Armando saw her. Over her shoulder was a backpack of some snacks she'd brought.
"This was a good idea, Phoenix," Mia said, putting the chips she had brought on the table and moving the bottlecaps and whatnot out of the way. "I for one could stand to play for a bit." She smiled at the new arrival, the sardonic guy with the cane (she couldn't remember if she'd learned his name) and indicated a chair. "Pull one up, we're just getting started." She hadn't seen Byakuya yet--or Iris.
It seemed like a lot of people were interested in this as Godot and others she didn't yet know walked up to the table. She noticed Phoenix's hesitant look her way and realized she had never really been introduced to him in person, "I'm First Lt. Riza Hawkeye."
She looked over to the man with a cane when he approached taking a seat, "We haven't even dealt yet so you haven't missed anything." Riza eyed the mixed collection of bottlecaps and chips and the deck of cards near Phoenix. Well, judging from the crowd at least the game would be interesting.
(OOC: I miscalculated and started dealing for game 2 with only four players, giving us six. Murphy, you are in our game, so start tagging in this thread! I have everybody's hands dealt out and written down- so IM me to know what you got and also to do your trading round. I'll assume Godot deals.)
"Cards are fifty percent luck and fifty percent intellect-- something like life in general, I'd say," Godot quipped as Murphy and the others joined the table. He was feeling rather sharp at the moment. "Wright, I hope you don't mind if I deal."
Five cards went out to all six players and Godot set the remnants of the deck down to have a look at his own cards. A careful glance could have seen the smile on his face falter for just a moment as he came to the sudden realization that he couldn't read well over half the cards.
Red suits- how could he have forgotten about the red suits?! Three totally blank cards, a five of spades and what he could only tell was a Jack because of the dark detailing on the portrait. Shit.Wordlessly, in an attempt

He couldn't help the little swell of happiness at how many people were filling the table - there was even another game starting up a ways down. Everyone was relaxed and (mostly) smiling. Maybe Apollo had been on to something after all - this had been a good idea.
It wasn't until Armando had gotten a hold of the cards and was dealing them out that he actually looked up - and saw Iris. He had been working all afternoon on keeping a decent poker face, but he couldn't help his smile... or the way his brows drew together in sudden panic after realizing just who was sitting with him. He tried (and, he figured, probably failed) to signal to Iris to find somewhere to sit that wouldn't draw too much attention to herself; Armando had asked him to get some information, sure, but he didn't exactly know just how well Phoenix knew this particular twin

House recieved his cards and glanced at them briefly before trading two. He stealthily watched the other player's faces and body language. By doing this he could usually tell what everyone had in their hands.
