bag of tricks

first a photo from Sweden - just because I like it

nobody I actually know in it - it's a little cafe in a park.

Now, what's in the bag?

"be prepared" stuff. so whatever I feel like knitting, it is there, all my wips

socks in trekking.

scarf in the beautious yarn Tiennie sent me

a travelling scarf, a row of all the yarns I have used. Well that's the idea. I listened to the Yarn Harlot's Casting Off on audiobook and she suggests doing this, or a travelling afghan.  I like the idea, like a scrap quilt.  and it is the ideal completely mindless row or two as you go along activity.

At the bottom of the bag is the naughty corner

the rose chevron is really getting on my nerves. It is there till I can face it. The fact that I had to unpick a yard or so because of a stupid mistake doesnt help its chances....

But away from the bag there is the wheel...

first bobbin in the spin, and

off the wheel.   I am finding the pencil roving very challenging (and look how much more in the basket).  It twists mercilessly - in my lap! I am pre-drafting in sections but it still twists.   I am going to spin another bobbin in this and ply them together then start on some Corriedale roving which is currently in the post to me and see how I find that.  But it is fun! and I am not quite as rubbish as I was a few days ago so I am fairly optimistic.  Just have to spin some lumpy over-twisted stuff for a while and then when I have put in the spinning hours I hope to be spinning fine and even and relaxed...

and for when I am feeling focused and not tired and not impatient, I am working on the malabrigo fcs.  I am so looking forward to wearing it for the first time.   Hope I am not 90 when I do.....
