Well, it hasn't exactly been a banner day. My Lenten sacrifice is to attend daily Mass (oy, I forsee big problems with this) so I set the alarm for 6:30 this morning.

Wrench in the plans #1: It didn't go off.

Not to worry, I woke up at 6:45 when Dan left for work and was still on track. Nurse the baby, shower, dress, dress the baby, wake the Doob, video the Doob, make breakfast, eat, drag the Doob to the table, dress the Doob, make chocolate milk, beg the Doob to finish breakfast. My dad called wanting to take Doob to school so I told him we were planning on Mass at 8:15. He said he'd meet us there. 8:05 I strap Geneva into her car seat.

Wrench in the plans #2: GinGin poops through her outfit.

GAH! Go upstairs, take off perfect purple Ash Wednesday outfit, wipe wipe wipe, new diaper, new outfit. Out the door. Called my chiropractor and Doob's school on the way to church to let them know we'd be late. Arrive at church only 3 minutes off. This is still salvagable. Get Doob out of the car, hold his hand with my right and Ginny's car seat with my left. Hurry hurry hurry into Church.

Wrench in the plans #3: Mass is in the chapel across the street.

FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK This is the point where I should have gone back to the car and driven to the chapel but I'm just VERY bad at switching gears. So I hoofed it up the hill, across the street, through the church parking lot, across another street and into the school, where I entered the chapel just after the Gospel. My dad turns to me with his "Where the hell have you been what's going on?" expression. After a whispered, arm-waving conversation in which I may have been a little worked up, we decided he would take Doob to school and I would go to the 9 am Mass in the church.

By the time he joined me I'd remembered that Doob's backpack (mochilla) and outdoor clothes were still in my car. So I'd have to go drop them off. Mass ran over an hour, so I was late to my chiro, and by the time I got out at 11 am there was ZERO point in dropping GinGin off at my mom's. So I ran an errand or two, got some dry cleaning, bought some homopathic medicine for a friend's sick kid, and came home in time to check my email before it was time for lunch.

I ate, talked to my sister, folded two loads of laundry, started beans for dinner, nursed Geneva and talked to Dan on the phone before mom dropped the Doob off for his nap. Read to the Doob, did some more nursing of Geneva and now, at 4:00, I have time to post.

I hate how I get done with a day like this and despite having done a bunch of STUFF, I still feel like I got nothing accomplished. I mean even if I do clean the bathrooms, do more laundry, cook dinner, sweep the kitchen floor and do the dishes, along with taking care of Geneva and entertaining the Doob, I'm still going to feel like today was a failure because I didn't do any writing.

Meh.
