Mrs. Foot

Yay! I've downloaded Semagic and gotten rid of LochJournal. Seriously, I don't know what the use is of a client that doesn't save the post you're working on when the window is minimized. It's not like I shut down or anything, but whenever I switched to the web or my inbox, I lost the entire post. Stupid.

Anyway, we're back in business now and I'm glad.

Finished a LOOOOONG crit of a colleague's novel on my online writers group. 40 pages of critique; that's substantial eh? A good 1/3 of it was quotes from his work, so it's not like I can claim every page of that, but still, it represents a large chunk of my time and I certainly hope I get good crit credits for it.

Doob is upstairs drinking his afternoon smoothie. He actually ate some lunch at school today, a rarity. Just now he was asking for bread with butter, so I said, "Let's lok at the chart and see what you need to eat." One peanut butter and jelly sandwich, carrot soup, crackers and grapes with a glass of milk, means he's very short on veggies and fruit for the day. So we made a smoothie.

He's enamored with Mrs. Foot right now (my right foot.) She speaks to him in a Southern accent that tends lazily to Brit-speak because I'm very bad at accents, but she won't talk to him when she's in her sock. So all day Kaden's hounding me, "Can I take Mrs. Foot out of her sock and talk to her?" At night when I tuck him in, he wants to pray the rosary with Mrs. Sock. "Here we go, Mrs. Sock. Now what do we do first?"

"Well, ahm sure ah doan know, Kaden. What do hyou think?"

"Um, I think we say the sign of the cross. Now we say the Our Father. You say the first part, Mrs. Foot."

And randomly throughout the day, he wants to show something to Mrs. Foot or have her read a story to him (!!!) or have her sit next to him and watch the Little Mermaid. "What's your favorite part of the Little Mermaid, Mrs. Foot?" "Well, ah think it's the paht where she saves him. Ah do laik that."

Sometimes Mrs. Foot can't talk, even when she's not in her sock, because she has to help me stand and do something, like clean the kitchen. Mrs. Foot has very good manners and won't speak to him when someone else is talking to Mommy -- she always waits her turn. It amazes me how completely into something he can get. He hasn't been interested in Mrs. Foot since about March of last year, and now all of a sudden everything is all about Mrs. Foot. For whatever reason, he's not interested in Mr. Foot (my left foot) who's a friendly cowboy and calls him "Pardner." Too bad. I can do Mr. Foot's voice a lot better than Mrs. Foot. Back in March he used to really enjoy when Mr. and Mrs. Foot danced with each other while Mommy sang. I can't for the life of me remember what I used to sing, though. Kaden used to collapes in gales of laughter while my feet went back and forth, and whenever I stopped he'd yell out, "Keep dancing!" It was cute. Very cute.

baby love, writing, kaden
