My very favorite cookies of all time are chocolate chip. But I always use the recipe on the back of the Tollhouse chocolate chip package, so it's not very creative for sharing. So, I'll post my favorite cookie bar recipe instead, which is absurdly easy and delicious.
7 Layer Cookies
1 stick of butter
1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs
1 1/2 cups shredded coconut
1 bag butterscotch chips
1 bag chocolate chips
1 can sweetened condensed milk
1 cup walnuts, chopped
Melt the butter and pour it into a 9X13 cake pan. Spread in layers: graham cracker crumbs, coconut, butterscotch chips, chocolate chips. Drizzle the sweetened condensed milk over the chips. Top with the chopped walnuts. Bake at 350* for 30 minutes. Remove and let cool, then cut into squares.
This recipe can be adapted in lots of different ways, depending on your preferences. Use peanut-butter chips instead of butterscotch; white chocolate chips, semi-sweet, or dark chocolate chips can be used. It's great with pecans. Mix and match with what you have on hand, and be creative. They also freeze really well.
