Summary: Steve finds that falling in love with Danny Williams is the greatest adventure he's ever had.
Steve had many adventures in his life, but none of them compared to falling in love with Danny Williams.
It was the last thing he expected to happen when they first met.
They fought and argued and Danny looked like he wanted to punch Steve more than the one time he actually did.
Even then he could feel sparks between them, buried under the hostility.
In retrospect he thought their initial hostility was partially due to the sexual tension between them.
Almost immediately they realized that the tension was attraction, and they panicked and fought some more.
Soon they knew they couldn’t fight the attraction they felt, no matter how much they tried to and one day the fighting turned into sparring, which lead to the two of them rolling around on the floor, wrestling.
The wrestling turned into frantic touching and bruising kisses, and clothes being torn off and the most passionate sex either of them ever had.
Afterwards they tried to deny their actions, but they couldn’t stop touching each other and every attempt to avoid it going further failed.
At the same time, their affection for each other grew, with Danny supporting Steve when he needed it, and Steve supporting Danny when he needed it.
When Steve saw Danny’s face the day Danny found him in Korea, Steve finally knew what he’d only guessed before.
Danny Williams was in love with him.
When Steve realized that the only person he wanted to see that day was Danny he knew what he’d only guessed about his own feelings.
He was in love with Danny Williams.
Getting Danny to admit his feelings had been challenging, and Steve found himself similarly afraid of what would happen if he voiced the feelings in his heart.
One day, in typical fashion they blurted it out in the way they did everything else.
In the midst of an argument.
According to Danny, Steve had once again taken chances he didn’t have to take and he ran over to him, saying, “What could POSSIBLY have made you think that was a good idea? You could’ve gotten killed!”
“You were worried about me!” Steve said, knowing he sounded way too happy about that and that the smile on his face was the goofy grin he always got around Danny.
“I was NOT worried. I worry about many things, but losing you in a firefight is not one of them! I can promise you that, my friend!”
Steve smiled and said, “You care. Admit it, you love me.” He said it as a joke, but he could see by the blush on Danny’s face that he had struck a nerve.
And Danny was blushing not because of the teasing.
He was blushing because he didn’t think of it as teasing. Danny was really in love with him.
Danny walked away and called after Steve to join him at the car.
Steve ran to him and lightly touched Danny’s shoulder. “Hey, what happened back there?”
“What are you talking about?” Danny asked, sighing in exasperation.
“You-blushing when I said you love me.”
“Oh please, get over yourself. It didn’t mean anything, Steve.”
“You’re lying. And I can prove it,” Steve grinned and kissed Danny, moving closer so that their bodies molded together.
“Stop crowding me! Also, please remember the fact that we are in the open and Kono and Chin are around.”
“I don’t care,” Steve said in a firm voice. “I don’t care if they see. I don’t care if they know. I don’t care if anyone knows. You love me, and you’re going to say it.”
“Really? “ Danny moved so that his lips were inches away from Steve’s. “How are you going to get me to do that?”
Steve leaned in and kissed Danny. “I’m going to tell you that I love you, too.”
Danny looked shocked for a moment and then shook his head as though to clear it. “You-love me?”
“Yes, and I don’t care who knows or what happens. Danny, we fought our attraction for each other and lost that battle. We can’t fight this, either.”
“You and me? Yeah, that’ll work,” Danny said, but the familiar twinkle was back in his eyes. “We’ll kill each other.”
“We might,” Steve nodded and smiled in agreement. “But I don’t think we will.”
“I don’t know. This adrenaline junkie need for speed you have drives me a little nuts.”
“You’re not exactly a cautious type either, Danny. Although you refuse to admit it!”
“Well, it won’t be dull, that’s for sure.”
“No, it won’t be. And not just because of your volatile personality,” Steve grinned as Danny glared at him. “It’ll be because we love each other.”
“And? I assume there’s more to that statement, oh wise one?” Danny asked, teasingly.
“And- I’ve discovered love is the greatest adventure. At least, loving you is.”
Danny was silent for a moment and then said, “I agree,” as Steve pulled him close for another kiss.
