“With this ring…”
Our simple ceremony years ago didn’t include an exchange of rings or other symbols of our union. It was a quiet, private wedding in the coastal Oregon town we adopted as our retreat.
We had no need for anything to remind us of the commitment, and while we never hid our relationship, we didn’t proclaim it to the world. We were going into the Expanse in search of the Xindi weapon, knowing the chances of our return were not good.
Today, we renew those promises. I touch the plain band on Malcolm’s finger, one word engraved.
Always.
