Little One Knit and a Strange Twist

May 07, 2008 10:51

It's Wednesday; you know what that means. (I hear all you folks out there screaming, "American Idol Results Night!" to which I will simply back away very slowly, attempting not to make any sudden movements.)

I only have one finished project to showcase this week, the first of what I hope will be several cotton projects finished this month.

What: Petal Bib from One Skein
Yarn: Lily's Sugar n Cream in red
Needles: US size 6
Modifications/Notes: I really like this pattern; the end result is, as I hoped, very cute. The photograph really doesn't capture the color right.

Also finished; the diagonal lace scarf. Right now it's drying on the floor of my sister's room, so no pictures. One of the good things about the sis being out of the country right now is having a place for my knits to lay out where the cats can't go.

Which reminds me; I got an odd email from the sis Monday afternoon. Was a little surprised to read this:

"Sounds like you have had a hectic day!  What else is going on in your life?  How are your classes?  Work?  Anything new going on in your life?  Are you knitting a lot of cool things still?"

That last question threw me for a loop, let me tell you. For those who don't know, my sister has been the one person for whom I have yet to make a successful knit item. The lap blanket I made her went under her bed because "it was covered in cat fur" (she told me later it was on her bed regularly yet I never saw it), the first scarf I made her was worn by her roommate, the second scarf I made (using yarn she picked out, I might add) was worn once, and her capelet sits in her dresser unworn. Last Christmas she went so far as to pick up every present under the tree with my name in the 'From' spot and in a very dry, monotone voice say, "Let me guess; something you knitted... something else you knitted..."

Yet here it is, an email from her, where she asks "Are you knitting a lot of cool things still?" I almost can't believe it. I also really don't know what to make of it. Ah well.
