Wed 11/21/12
I really love the place I work. They set up a 5K Turkey Trot on the property for patients and employees only; no entry fee, two hours admin time to run the race, free lunch afterward and a free sweatshirt to everyone who participated. It the first time this year I've participated in a 5K. I'm pathetically out of shape. I ran the first 100 yards and then walked the rest of the way. 56'46"
When I got home, I helped my wife with packing and cooking prep. The last thing we did was put the turkey in the oven on low. It cooked all night and was perfect in the morning.
Thurs 11/22/12
I had both Thurs and Fri off from my job, I love my job. We did some food prep at our house, and then took the feast to my mother's house in Buffalo. It's just the three of us now, her brother had Thanksgiving with his wife's family and Karen's family was in Connecticut where my MIL is now living with my SIL. After a wonderful feast, we did a few chores for mother before retiring
Fri 11/23/12
The list of chores loomed long before us. :) Seriously, by the time we were done it was late and since I hate driving at night, we stayed an extra night. We boycotted the stores, but we did hit the laundrymat. We brought with us all of our dog's old blankets that were his bed, and they got washed in the big machines. My mother identified the last few photos in the shoebox we found in the garage. We think it's my grandmother's box as all the photos are of my mother's side of the family and nothing of my father's plus there's photos of things like my grandmother's graduation. Finally got to see the movie "How to Train a Dragon" I liked it.
Sat 11/24/12
A few last chores to scratch off the list. A little further clearing of the garage. This weekend's find, a handmade knife and my father's coin collection. My mother knew he had a coin collection. She didn't realize it filled three milk crates. We need to find a reliable dealer for her. An easy ride home, leftovers for supper and an early bed.
Sun 11/25/12
I got up just in time for services. Grocery shopping to restock the larder and then we watched the rental "Brave". Apparently, this is my weekend for animated movies. It was good.
Mon & Tues
In case anyone tracks, Monday's lunch was turkey sandwich, Tuesday's lunch was turkey casserole. We're not yet to the soup stage, we started with a 28 lb bird.
