sophia_helix gave me the letter R, with five female characters to talk about. Comment to volunteer and I will give you a letter.
1. Rick Castle: Sometimes he's an overgrown kid who needs to get over his overprotective paternalistic instincts (and his wounded ego). Other times, I love him to pieces for loving everything about Kate Beckett that I do: her fierceness, her strength, her refusal to be anything other than herself. And he really is a great dad.
2. Ron Swanson: The man has a pyramid of greatness, TV's best mustache, and thinks it is okay to teach little girls about libertarianism. If you don't love Ron Swanson, I don't want to know you and we cannot be friends. Like with Castle, I love Ron most when we get to see how much he respects and cares for Leslie even though he so rarely agrees with her.
3. Ron Weasley: The sidekick who I always liked much better than the hero, I think because we were never stuck in his head full of raging all caps for an entire book. I think the best thing about Harry Potter fanfic is it gets to play up Ron's best qualities: his loyalty, his own intelligence (just because he is no Hermione doesn't make him stupid), and his sense of adventure. Weasley is our King, indeed.
4. Robin Scherbatsky. I love Robin, though I think her writing has been really inconsistent for the last few seasons of HIMYM (and that screwing up pairing her with Barney had a lot to do with this). But she brought us "Let's Go to the Mall" and her friendship with Lily usually passes the Bechdel test, and you really do believe they love each other.
5. Radar O'Reilly: I sometimes tell people I love early Aaron Sorkin because Sorkin so clearly loves M*A*S*H. Radar really is the heart of that show for me, and the seasons after he leaves just aren't as good. And he gave Big Bird's teddy bear his name, thus connecting two of my favorite shows of all time.
